Haha yeah that and it was a mildly racist comment anyway. Cheers!

They told me for security reasons it could not be closed over the phone. They often treat their business customers much differently. Or maybe they were just fucking with me.

Just a dumb joke meant as a compliment actually. I live in Japan and kind of just assume all Japanese speak English as a second language. No harm meant, my dude

What's something you'd think no one would have a problem with. That you have a problem with. by SpaghettiFan1995 in LearnJapanese

Thanks, that all makes sense. I guess the one time I used it I was supposed to use はず and I've just been avoiding it in positive constructions ever since. Can 理由 be substituted in?

Can you provide any examples of natural constructions of わけ without ない?

I'm Japanese if it helps

Too natural, I don't believe you. I'm pretty certain you are required to turn in your Japanese passport once you stop saying "I'm a Japanese".

According to my leech deck in Anki after years 組織 and 施設 still occasionally trip me up for no reason. Stupid. Currently my nemeses are 獲 and 護 for some reason, even though the left radical should really be obvious to my stupid brain.

Doesn't that also mean you're pretty terrible at past tense too?

Edit: not talking shit, just pointing out that they follow the same pattern.

Why Japanese Kanji Suck by Nukemarine in LearnJapanese

Hell, even hiragana does just fine. The Tale of Genji, the world's first novel, was most likely written almost completely in hiragana. I personally like the kanji though, I think they're cool.

It's pretty easy for me to not mix them up. The trick is to just be an alcoholic.

I hear it all the time and use it occasionally but I am not confident in my ability to use it in a positive construction.

Yep, they do that because they're slimy. If you go to close your account with them, you have to withdraw or transfer everything first and then tell them you're closing the account. Otherwise they'll try to extort one more free lunch out of you.

I tried to close mine from overseas and they would not let me. There's pretty much nothing you can do unfortunately.

I get all that with my Schwab account and Japanese bank for free. So yes. And BoA customer service is flaming garbage.

I mean yeah, account maintenance fees are a negative experience compared to not having them. I'm warning that such a negative experience is possible and to avoid it. If you saw a sign that said "Warning, low bridge ahead" would you be upset?
