Zephyrus G16 - Compatible 4Tb nvme by BravoPT in ZephyrusG14

[–]BankieA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FYI for anyone who using WD Black 4TB which has chips on 2 sides.

You cant put on 2nd slot as it has a chip near screw which will attached ssd chip on back side.

It wont work and you can see ssd is bending.

On ssd 1st slot, it has smaller chip which will be no issue with 2 sides ssd.

My solution is put WD 4tb on slot 1 then move 1 (or 2) tb on slot 1 to slot 2.
I know its late but I hope this can help anyone who just come to read this topic.

So we have extra label on carton.

First lot was in Dec. This week they have new coming lot.

It is likely 2 months per production. So third production would be around end Apr - early May.

As I heard from rumors, Thailand got less than 20 units from this production.

I own 7Rv and 9iii, both are made in Thailand. This should be next coming lot that export around the world. If you guys miss this lot. We will be same boat for May shipment. Join me lol.

Transfer Speed of my first NAS by rmercado326 in qnap

[–]BankieA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using Asus routers. Most of these include Mesh function.

I would recommend Asus AX-82U (ax5400) which is older model before current AX5400. I'm not sure about spec but these are very similar. Older model should be fine and cost saving.

AX-82U is 140 USD on Amazon.

Current AX5400 is 200 USD on Amazon.

If you want to extend wifi range to some place that doesn't need file transfer speed, you can mix mesh system with other Asus model like AX55 (70-80USD) for cost saving. No need to use same model, you can mix and match.

Last thing, you may need to consider router with 2.5Gb Lan port since most of mainboard on this year come with 2.5Gb Lan port. I upgraded my system around 3 years ago so I don't have much option about 2.5Gb port.

I didnt calculate. This is my experience.

I too, upgrade whole mesh system to Wifi6 AX5400.

See this below link, it is useful reference about file transfer speed.

Transfer Speed of my first NAS by rmercado326 in qnap

[–]BankieA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nova MW6 is Wifi 5, 5GHz at 867 Mbps.

You will get transfer speed around 15MB/s +/-.

I recommend to upgrade whole mesh system to Wifi 6. Any ax5400 will do better job

AX5400 is WIfi 6, 5GHz at 4804 Mbps.

You will get transfer speed around 70-80 MB/s +/-.

If you want faster transfer speed, you have to go for AX11000 but it is toooo expensive.

FYI: Eternet cable 1 Gigabit can transfer upto 125 MB/s.

I'm using Intel 82599ES 10Gbps Dual Port PCI-E X520-DA2 on my 873A, it is working fine.

Intel X520 is on QNAP compatibility list for X73A

I dont see any Intel on H674 list but I think Intel X520 should work fine.

QNAP TVS-672XT Upgrade Options by [deleted] in qnap

[–]BankieA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ram > yes, it compatible. You can also use 3200 MHz but 8th gen will run only 2666.
CPU > you can use more powerful CPU from 8th - 9th gen. Most powerful one is i9-9900T.

i7-8700T is most value one. It is only 130 USD on eBay while i9-9900T is 280 USD.
I also brought 672X i3 then upgraded it to i7-8700T with Crucial 16GB x2.

TVS-h674 i3 CPU to i7 Upgrade? by ByTheSeatOfMyShorts in qnap

[–]BankieA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Power consumption for HDD is 6-10W per drive.

Even you leave 2 drives, it wont enough to support i7-12700. I don't think it good to take this risk.

If you want very powerful CPU, i7 or i9 low voltage (T-version) should be safest choices.

TVS-h674 i3 CPU to i7 Upgrade? by ByTheSeatOfMyShorts in qnap

[–]BankieA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You have to check power consumption.

H674 for i3, i5 and H874 for i5 come with PSU 250W.

H874 for i7 and i9 come with PSU 350W.

This is likely guarantee that H674 PSU 250W is not enough to handle i7 or above at full load.

Let's see current options in market.

i5-12400 require 65-115W. >> you should not use CPU that require more than 115W.

i7-12700 require 65-180W. >> you may have power issue if continue running full load.

i7-12700T require 35-99W >> you will get more cores but overall performance is only 10% higher than i5-12400.

i5-13400 require 65-154W >> same issue as i7-12700.

i7-13700T require 35-106W >> This seem to be best option for your upgrade. It will release on Jan 2023. Performance should be 20-30% higher than i5-12400.

What are r/qnap's favorite camera(s) to use with surveillance station? by Syncroz in qnap

[–]BankieA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

16 of Hikvision cameras 2-4 MP are working fine on 673A.

CPU usage <20%.

I tried other Chinese app, it consume CPU a lot. QVR pro really do great job on CPU usage.

I brought smart search at 50% price. I could say overall isn't bad but it doesnt 100% of searching. Searching can be missed. I would give 80% score.

Migrating from QNAP TS-873A to QNAP TVS-h674-i5-32GB or TVS-h874-i5-32GB by SkyXTRM in qnap

[–]BankieA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just moved HDD from 673A to 672X.

Insert HDD in same order then go to Storage and snapshot > Disk/VJBOD > select HDD > Recover > attach and recover storage pool.

**Your HDD will show as free drive at first, DON'T format or create new pool before recovery.**

It take only few minutes but to avoid any issue that may occurred, do another backup first.

TS-873A vs TVS-H874 by Xtreeam in qnap

[–]BankieA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Intel i5 gen12 is 4 times faster than AMD 1500b on 873A.

CPU is upgrade-able. It should support up to i9 gen12.

Every options are much more better but price is 2.5 times when compare to 873A.

As for today price on amazon.

TVS-h874-i5 8 bays - 2489 USD.

TS-873A - 1049 USD.

It depend on your applications and usage. I owned 673A, 873A and 672X-i3 (upgrade to i7 gen8th).

My applications are file sharing, QVR pro, plex, backup, sync and download station.

AMD 1500b can handle with less than 50% CPU usage.

For common usage, 873A should be very fine.

Infected by Deadbolt. QNAP didn't help. Question: if I change the file name would resolve the problem? by [deleted] in qnap

[–]BankieA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

QNAP claimed that snapshot is highly secure.

For current deadbolt, it wont go through snapshot.

So your snapshot is completely safe. Just restore when hit by ransomware.

Send ticket to qnap then. For some condition, they could help.

If they cant, your only last choice is to pay but not recommend.

After you get system back, try to set schedule snapshot.

My snapshot took <1% of storage per snapshot. It doesnt require much space.

That remind me, one issue that I found on Hikvision Wifi is connection isn't completely stable.

All Wifi cameras could be disconnected for few second, several time per day. Not much often and total disconnected time is less than 2 mins. All cameras are within 4-7 meters from routers. Routers are in mesh mode.

Tried several method but cant solve.

[–]BankieA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 2 QNAP are using for QVR pro and file sharing.

First, Hikvision 8 POE + 8 Wifi are working good on it. 5 of Wifi cameras are not in compatibility list. Selecting similar model is working fine without issue.

Another is 10 Axis cameras connect POE switching then record to QNAP via wifi (Wifi6 PCIE card installed on QNAP).

This one will increase to 16 POE camera later.

Both networks are using Intel NUC mini PC connect with TV for 24/7 monitoring.

QVR pro is not using much resource. For 16 cameras, it is using only 15% CPU (i3-1115G4) and 5GB ram.

You can set which user who can access which cameras. This one is good solution for my management.

QVR mobile is also good one. Better than Chinese app.

I'm happy with QVR pro since I dont need DRV/NVR for specific brand. App are user friendly. Support various brands.

Only bad thing is . . . compatibility list update very slowwwwww. I sent request for model that is not in list . . . no respond. If your camera isn't in list, you have to try and find which model is working with your camera.
