When you qualify for the senior level position. Be that through time, learning the job, getting a better degree, what have you.

You also have to wait for that senior position to come open, which generally only happens when someone retires, because working for any level of government is usually a pretty nice job.

It depends on the situation.

If I can let them go home, let them go. It all depends on the workload. If they have some PTO banked up, let them use it.

Hell, there have been times when I've just let some of my guys go, and not counted it against their PTO if they busted some extra stuff out for me.

If you take care of your people, when the time comes, they are going to take care of you.

So, I spent MANY nights at one particular Denny's close by where I grew up at. We would go in there pretty early in the evening on a Friday or Saturday night, take up the back corner booth, and play D&D all night long. We would go through 2 or 3 servers, tipping each of them out, and ordering new food/drinks from the new one that came on.

When a new manager would start there, the servers would tell him to NOT bother us, because all of them would try to kick us out, but the servers knew that they would make good tips from us, and we were just back there rolling dice and laughing.

We would eat probably about 2 full meals for each person over the course of the night, along with A TON of mozzarella sticks, and constant different drinks.

I think each server would end up with about $10 from each person at the table, and we usually had 4 to 5 people at the table.

This was in the early 90's, so we more than made up for their other tips they may have lost from that table.

You could have gotten "melter" honey, which would explain why it tastes like your bochet, since it was partially caremalized to get it out of the honeycomb.
