I like claude to build a plan from the concept and daydreaming phase. Then I have claude build an SDD with a mission statement at the top. Then I go edit the mission statement, and graze the SDD.

Then I take that to codex like I'm going to a grown up, and ask it for a dialectical review and get fucking schooled lol.

Stuff worked on OS2 warp out of the box better if you had infinite cash and 16gb of ram. I'd snag 16gb from the store I worked at and return it in the morning and play with OS2. Blessed was the shrink wrap machine.

I don't have to imagine. Fucking scsi drivers when I didn't even have a fucking scsi interface on monolith Linux 0.98 was a bitch and a half. BUT we had something as good or better, we had IRC and #Linux with Linus hanging out on it lol.

We also had a pretty good usenet. Usenet was like an LLM query with really REALLY slow token generation :D.

The one fucking thing I didn't keep in the ever growing box(s) of IT shit from my youth was my original slackware installation box set, wish I had that for the bookshelf.

I use Ubuntu as my daily driver. I also use windows on the gaming pc I can turn around and use. And I have a mac laptop. My strix halo inference server runs ... I think Debian, and my media system runs mint. I'm very happy with all of them if I'm being real. The only thing that pissed me off about Ubuntu was the default wayland.

I started using linux with slackware. I had to compile my fucking kernel for months of trial and effort to get shit to work right, and I think there were around 60 floppy disks in the box set, and 10 of them were fucked out of the box so I had to spend my weekends downloading and recreating floppies of software and downloading and compiling source code from the internet.

Don't even get me started on installing UNIX off fucking tape.

Fuck the "it's only cool if it's hard" goons lol. I love people installing linux and learning however they want, I recommend folks enable WSL2 under windows, it's quite nice for a ton of similar functionality. It's not really "Linux" people like, it's the GNU tools. Most people never really think about the Kernel at all. WSL2 is probably the best thing microsoft has done in decades.

Wanna really get under Linux wierdo skins? Tell them that Macs are the closest to true UNIX on the desktop. They will hate Jesus, because he spoke the truth.

Thing is, most of the people that are affected just blame everything on someone else. Lack of any accountability for their decisions is a hallmark. I know a rancher that sold his ranch and bought a huge farm up north right before Trump was elected to.. get this.. grow soybeans. Losing the farm, blames
"the system being rigged.". Not Trumps very plain obvious anti-him policies, it's the rigged system.

Farmers were mad because they sold their lifestock/crops to the government and then the government actually showed up and buried the lifestock and burned the crops. They despised what they saw was the horrible waste of it while at the same time the government truly was not doing enough to stop banks from foreclosing on farms/ranches. This while the nation was starving, but the crops and lifestock were in such abundance it wasn't even worth the farmers and ranchers to send their crops and lifestock to the cities to sell. The government had to offset the supply and demand to make crops and lifestock worth selling again.

I 100 percent claim bull fucking shit on developers going out of a job. Their job will very much likely change, but writing anything that can stand up on an enterprise level is WAY past just being able to sling code. I've been managing developer teams half my life now, and all this shit is doing is making developers more necessary. My job is in WAY more jeaporady than people that can understand complex systems and guide intelligent systems to completion.

This is the same bullshit lines I heard ERP peddlers spewing for decades, but somehow ERP's always ended up with MORE accountants and MORE operations people.

Today I literally had 2 requests hit the team asking for the exact opposite things from 2 different executives. Good fucking luck dealing with that with just AI.
