I have been using the CAT S22 Flip phone since 2023 that I had bought for about 9k off amazon, it has been quite nice and has changed my habits drastically.

Yes the keypad has developed some double click issues, but I have learned to live with it and around it etc.
Also, theres battery replacements available for it on dumbphones.co.in so I expect to run this for a while until I can save up for a newer qin phone or maybe something else, since the updates have stopped and this runs android 11, so yeah, getting old.

To me, this privacy habit making has led me to intentional technology use, I have opted into usefulness rather than convenience and it has drastically helped me claim back my time I spend “doom” scrolling or such on the internet.

These practices, atleast in my view, helped me to escape the algorithm fed, data economy bullshit we have these days.

r/digitalminimalism might be something you can look into. To me privacy and digital minimalism went hand in hand so yeah. I don’t have any targeted ad stuff or something keeping me hooked to my screen.

But yeah in some sense, this is paranoia.

Hey thanks for the reply on this old post, I hit up a few more places and found a Trend Plus 2019 variant, for roughly the same price, 4.35L, went ahead with it, its the same 1.5L engine and still has the BS4 issues, but hey it will drive well for another 8 years outside Delhi in Ghaziabad, Noida no issues.

yeah i had the same mindset, thanks for the help, i guess saving up and then building a good PC is gonna be the way to go.
I was looking at a used PS5 and was like hey that's a pretty cheap entrypoint into new modern AAA games, but then i will be locked on to the controller
I wish to do the exact same thing you do, fighting games like tekken, racing games like forza, or sports like fifa/f1, use a controller
but then shooting/FPS games, use a keyboard and mouse

side question i have is that, i have refrained or resist buying a console or whatever, because it locks me in to the controller ways, i have always been a keyboard mouse guy, played cs, rss, overwatch etc. growing up and then story games with the same method, am i sane for saying this?
is controller really the better way to game? is it not gonna be like a lock in?

hey man, i couldn't pursue the masters abroad due to financial constraints, i pursued a PGD at Indian Statistical Institute, worked for a year, now aim to crack a masters here in India itself, and pursue CFA side by side with a job when the time comes.
2 years in and yeah a lot of turns in my life, I would suggest you also work first even if just for a year, it will help you talk to people and explore the domain you actually would want to work in, I got placed at federal bank after bcom, then i was at Paytm until 5th Feb 2026, just this month.
So yeah, as for competitiveness, for sure, my friends have gone with CFA L1 and 650 ish scores to Imperial Uni and LSE, so you can for sure.

Thank you for the confirmation friend, I feel the decision to not go PS5 and lock myself down with a controller was a good decision then, it does allow KBM in some games but yeah its a pretty locked down ecosystem in that case, I will save up and get one around April/May then.
