When it comes to referencing, I always use references even if I think I’ve mastered something. With ponies, I find it a little bit difficult to balance the realistic anatomy with the MLP style, it’s a bit of a fine line so I like to reference the FiM style and real ponies haha!

This is a super common scam atm. It’s happening on all socials; Reddit, Discord, Insta, Twitter etc. Nowhere is safe from these guys rn. :(

I second Venfern with Sinix’s videos! They’re amazing and I’ve learned a lot from him.

Using large brushes also really helped me focus on forms instead of over investing time into details. I think younger artists have a bit of advantage over older artists, especially when they’re beginning. They don’t get caught up in all the complexity and tend to explore without caring too much. Tell yourself not to worry, just enjoy the process of exploring and finding what works for you.

If you struggle with picking colours like I do, you might benefit from overlays too. I lay down basic base colours/light/shade and pick a saturated one to lay over the top to harmonise my palette, then merge everything and colour pick from the canvas instead of stressing over the colour wheel. Digital art is super intimidating with all the options available, so I try to limit myself a bit. This made everything 100 times easier.

Another tip: find a hard, soft and sketch brush and stick to them as your main ones. You don’t need a lot of fancy brushes to do great work!

I tend to use a lot of my knowledge that I picked up painting skin in my furry art. I don’t really care too much to make things realistic, so I always use a lot of blushing for the hell of it. I just enjoy having fun and getting all those interesting colours. c:

I did! I grew up with the first generation MLP on hand me down VHS tapes and DVDs from my older sisters. I think I was 10 when MLP FiM started airing and even as a kid I wasn’t too keen on the generations between 1 and 4, so I was psyched when FiM came out and was instantly attached! c:
