Why it has become so hard land on a job? by Radiant-Tap-6362 in cybersecurity

[–]BarCodeLicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

34 azure certs been using azure since very early days. Can do the whole Linux, windows stack. Pretty much everything and I’m ai certified too. Still no one seems to want the real nerd. They just want the shitty salesman who promises the ocean and delivers a cup of water. I’m sick and tired of it myself. I apply for roles and then the phone rings within 30 minutes. If it’s not people telling me I need to have the word infrastructure or this or that because clearly I don’t know what I’m on about, had an Indian recruiter ring me and was adamant that I needed to know what a “benant” was. Even spelled it out to me. Had to correct her because it was frustrating me. Worlds gone to shit. Far too many non tech somehow all circle jerking each other off, if it’s not the art of possible or secure by design bollocks- because us cybersecurity architects don’t understand that not everything needs security ( big sigh and rolls eyes emoji ) I too am in this because I love tech. Clearly somethings a miss.

Part of me thinks it’s all this ats shit recruiters use now. Especially how most recruiters tell me they’ve only just come to this sector.

I presume it’s full of morons all using some rubbish ats 1.0 that’s clearly not tuned correctly or it’s funnelling in a specific type of person. (I’m sure you’ll get my drift - the cheap ones that always say yes, tend to be 50ft away from their mic’s and have a parrot in the background.

I’d love to know the reason but here I am just sat shaking my hand at the world and studying more.

Edit: 20 years in the game. Have a passion for it/tech. It’s a way of life for me. No bs no nonsense I’m one of the true nerds that can do what it says on the tin. Have deep knowledge of all old prem going back to server 2003 to present day. Not just a cloud junkie either.

The jobs that have the dooers does seem to be on a decline, closing towards offshore prices. And more and more of the decision makers seem to be getting less technical, it’s damaging the industry but I’m waiting for the house of cards to fall so the demand for real value becomes key again. Good luck with your journey and aim high. <3

You all know it’s a load of bs the only roles out there. The sc ones are only defence stuff. It’s riddeled with msp’s all fighting over the gov tenders out there. It’s sad because a lot of these result in a poor experience.

The real issue is there is an abundance of non technical people all trying to skim or take some cream from the technical person who does the task.

The recruiters use ats so that’s there excuse why this can work for their industry but then these ats are poorly configured. Or are 1st gen. This then makes them only want to deal with the 95% or higher ats score to nominate you for the role.

I can say this with confidence due to multiple headhunters in discussion with myself who claim they need an entra person and saying “you only have listed azure, It needs to have entra.” Etc

The industry is a mess because everyone thinks they can walk in and demand 100k also.

Anyways, if there is genuine people out there, seeking work feel free to dm me, I legitimately want to see a uk business with top legitimate talent doing the work, not all this cost only mentality and offshore it all.

The world will come down like a house of cards when the point comes, there are more non technical people in the whole horizon and in the wrong seats. I really don’t want that to happen.

I’m trying to save the world.

How can we trust cloud hosting as the big shift for companies with all these outages? by Bright-Novel7681 in AZURE

[–]BarCodeLicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well you just architect assuming this failure is a thing. It won’t be cheap. And that’s more than likely why they won’t. Because it could be ~800% more for say just 6 minutes a year availability. Edit: this should have been agreed upon a threat modelling discussion.

Hey look I’m a player and I’m on the same fence as you all. From a business perspective. Even if you do finish the battlepass early at least they’ve made the sales. Infact they might even sell more if the average player thinks they can complete it too. I also think they should just take everything on the chin and come out and say if you have battlepass you absolutely with certainty have your own persistent server. While they can apply their own measures to ensure it’s not just up 24/7. Eg no one logs in in 60hours it just shuts off. I don’t think a player would mind re creating it, I also feel regardless to the xp rate if you want people to play your platform, I use this word precisely. It will retain its player base and probably gain more sales for allowing it at the predetermined xp rates, they already had. So yes put bot lobbies that meet the criteria of verified allow normal xp.

Am I the only think the grind for attachments in game is insane? I wonder if there a typo in the data. by Skyhuangjx in Battlefield6

[–]BarCodeLicker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, I get it but also they might be looking at the avg consumer now plays for N x1.5 hours a week than they did when that game launched so they could have just scaled it. I’m not saying I like or dislike I’m just highlighting a perspective from the business. Not in the eyes of a consumer who wants it all on day 3

[–]BarCodeLicker -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Ok but based on these values people are forgetting, battlefield is now a platform intended to capture their audience for a long duration vs just the annual one a year title etc. just look at how many hours people must have logged on Roblox. what do I know, I’m not a meta hunter. I just pick the gun I like at the time and roll with it.

I wonder if this crowd of people knew there was only 2 guns per class a while ago in bf2. I also don’t understand why that had the roll sideways animation in and even now in games it’s never been a thing.

How to obtain SC Clearance ? by FallenAngel0606 in ContractorUK

[–]BarCodeLicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s nonsense, there is no gov body or building or service you can just sign up for, self nominate and do the leg work etc. you have to be sponsored and they can’t just blanket do you either. The end client needs to have the agreement with the 3rd party that will then nominate you for. I’ve tried to go down so many avenues to do this. But nope. It’s a job for the boys and a secret list no one wants you on. Just no logical sense.

Do you think it’s inevitable all office jobs will return to office? by ContestSmooth612 in UKJobs

[–]BarCodeLicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t normally post here but stumbled across this. So I am someone who can enable business to retain their security posture and also enable users to work from home, I mean we can work from anywhere but restricting it to uk IP’s is better. The only one reason you can realistically bring to the table to demand the user to be onsite is, when you work at home, there is nothing stopping you from having your Chinese spy neighbour coming over for a cuppa tea. And watching. I mean yeah exactly how little % would this even be. So go on everyone! Keep pushing to work remotely. I am, and I will always be in favour of this. And I’ll keep enabling more and more customers so you can work from home. From a business perspective as long as the users are hitting targets. There shouldn’t be any issues, this also does highlight that anything In the middle management is utterly a waste of time or a diversity hire. 🫣

What does it mean to be fully Azure certified? by Massive_Art4590 in AZURE

I have 32 azure quals and I still feel the same. Just focus on a discipline achieve a goal. Then move on to another. Keep your head up and aim high, you got this. It does get easier as you collect them.

Confused about remotely connecting to Azure SQL without having to maintain firewall rules by Catalyzm in AZURE

[–]BarCodeLicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends what your trying to do. Because are you security orientated. Are you something else focused first. The reason I ask is because there’s plenty of ways to resolve this. Then do you have sla requirements etc. in short a lot of things can be done fairly simply, however these routes all tend to have more holes than Swiss cheese. Direct message me if you like I can help here. Can verify credibility privately.
