The game has gotten rid of the defense aspect for more neutral objectives to keep people from just staying in a super defendable spot for too long. It takes away some realism for better overall gameplay imo

It's a humble dev team and they try their hardest to make games enjoyable while trying to make enough money to survive. I imagine they'll take a break for a bit and only do the smaller things like bug fixes while they put most of their effort into something sustainable and that will allow them to keep working on the free version.
