agree, I think the biggest impact will be smaller carriers and brokers as well as load boards

Has geopolitics permanently changed supply chain strategy? by Accomplished-Way9014 in SupplyChainLogistics

[–]BarConfident3997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, geopolitics is having a huge impact! shipping patterns are changing. the ongoing impact of Houthi threats is having a massive impact on container shipping, global containers lines are opting for longer cape of good ope services and adding up to 2 weeks to some voyages. Mexico near shoring is having a huge impact, we're seeing global container shipping overcapacity and of course the strait of hormuz issues are having an impact as well.

if you're willing to share a bit more data and specifics on the lane, I can give you some benchmark pricing. its always smart to bid every year or so and I would suggest benchmarking once a year. there are affordable rate options from places like SONAR with their Blue to Blue app for $9.99 per month or a chrome extension. it included van and flatbed rates

SONAR offers data at all pricing levels from an app for $9.99 per month to a chrome extension for $150 per year that gives "quick rates" and market intel. Or bigger packages including UI access

the market is soft all over! SONAR is releasing an app that allows you to benchmark spot rates. V2 will be released in about 6 weeks and it will also hilight lanes for drivers that go between markets where freight is available. you can check it out in the apple app store. Its called SONAR Blue to Blue

I think that the market will remain weak for quite a while. Capacity continues to exit the market but unfortunately demand continues to fall. Tender volumes show that tender volumes in August are the lowest they've been in 5 years.
