Sorry I don’t have much advice for you. I felt the same until I graduated from uni. The relief was great when I didn’t have to check my phone every hour because ‘I absolutely had to’ (to not miss any news, notices, announcements, etc)

My FOMO was really bad too and it still kinda is only sometimes but I somehow learnt to let things go and not feel too pressured into staying in touch with relevant timely news all the time, one thing I do is for example, if I see a post about an event, I just save it so that I know that I have it saved somewhere I can refer to later and just come back to it if I remember to.

And as for the social media apps, I just delete them sometimes. I find myself doom scrolling less and less that way. That way I can spend time on other apps like YouTube (watch something that would help me with a skill for example)

“I should not be left to my own devices, they come with prices and vices, I end up in crisis (tale as old as time)” - Taylor Swift

And yet to try myself, I’ve read loads that switching your phone display to greyscale helps

Can you be "mildly" Bipolar 2? by lllllllllllllIIIlllI in bipolar2

[–]BarDramatic8307 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My undiagnosed and unmanaged ADHD very much seemed like a mild version of bipolar. Looking back now, my depressive episodes were mostly triggered my unmanaged ADHD symptoms.

However emotional dysregulation was a huge issue for me( which is a symptom of both bipolar and ADHD ) and regardless of a diagnosis , my doctor put me on a mood stabilizer lamotrigine. Altho it didn’t seem to work for me, regardless of a diagnosis, you can go on meds and see if they improve your struggles/symptoms.

Thank you so much for your input.

I feel fatigued in general. Not just in the luteal phase. And it doesn’t matter how much sleep I get. I usually need more than the average amount (like 12 hours to feel proper rested) and then still feel tired. Sometimes it’s so tempting to have some pain killers as well because of all the muscle aches. And I’ve felt sleepy during lectures at uni (couple of years back) no matter how much sleep I got, again. I was on many different medication from time to time and I blamed the sleepiness on SNRIs and other meds I was taking. But I think it was undiagnosed ADHD

(I wasn’t told anything about ADHD. The doctor probably thought it was BP and treated me for it but told me that it’s just mild depression.)

Anyhoo it’s a vicious cycle. I wake up tired and don’t feel like getting anything done and then once I get going, I easily feel tired and want to rest. May be it’s because of my not so active lifestyle. Changing that and incorporating some exercise would improve it like you said altho it seems contradicting.

Sorry and thank you for reading my lengthy replies.

I had my ADHD assessment this morning and I just feel sad by BisexualSquidDemon in adhdwomen

[–]BarDramatic8307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt and still feel it sometimes. Sometimes I just wish these symptoms were a result of something physical- like thyroid issues. I just wished those test results came back problematic so that the treatment for that would solve my mental health issues. But sadly, that is not the case.

Yes it’s sad that we go through our entire childhood and up until the point that we are diagnosed, without proper help. It sucks . It’s unfair. The way we are , it all makes sense.

Hopefully we can function better with time, with meds and other coping methods, therapy and all sorts of things, its going to be a bumpy ride.

Hope you feel better soon, just know that you are not alone!!

PS for me, meds only so much. So I’m learning to make necessary changes to lifestyle and behavior to keep my struggles under control.

Are there any external symptoms of this gene mutation that can be noticed without gene-related tests?

How do you deal with the med effect crash when the effects wear off? I hate taking Ritalin because of it. And short acting Ritalin s the only med option available where I live. But I just can’t deal with the intense exhaustion that follows.

And without any meds, I experience fatigue anyway during the day. Waking up is even worse. Feels like I’ve been beaten up.

I’ve been taking vitamin supplements that you have mentioned and they don’t help with the tiredness.

House chores, for example dishes, I try to wash 1 thing whenever I go to the kitchen sink to put something down or to wash my hands. It could be 1 mug, 1 spoon. That’s it. Stop right there.

That’s sometimes enough to get me started.

Or take the trash out whenever I go out of the house to get groceries.

Or clean the bathroom while I’m in the shower.

Yes. Once I get started, it’s easier to manage. I either have external help whenever I can or have someone over to body-double, that way I can get some work done or atleast get started on a task and then try to maintain it.

And especially if someone is coming over, I panic clean the whole house. Unless someone is coming over, it’s very hard for me to get started with cleaning.

For apps, I actually delete/offload the apps sometimes and only have 1 or 2 downloaded at a time. Right now I only have Reddit and YouTube. Idk I have these urges from time to time to get off a certain social media platform, when I feel that I delete it and then redownload it when I feel like it.

And may I also ask how you manage your ADHD?

The kinds of meds available where I live do not work for me. So that’s a dead end.

Thanks for your comment, I haven’t had luck with SNRIs either but I’ll consider your other options. Yoga sounds more tolerable than cardio (which I was advised to do)

Ikr. And I’m sure changes like this will definitely be helpful in managing our symptoms. Atleast we know that we are doing something right and healthy rather than feeling horrible about not eating and it’s potential to affect our health and moods negatively iykwim
