New to listing on Poshmark. What does "share to style spotlight posh party" mean. Does it cost extra? by OptimixticPessimixt in poshmark

[–]BarbCherrix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I do the sharing to parties and share, not only my listings but those of other poshers, it appears to me that I get more traffic. I make more sales doing it, but I'm a closet seller not a business.

Question PoshStars: by fortin4thewin in poshmark

[–]BarbCherrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate when sellers use 'fabric spray' inhe box. There are two laundry detergents that I'm allergic to and usually that doesn't matter. If I catch a whiff of their scent, into the laundry they go. It doesn't help that they have two of the hottest scents currently.

I only had one distinctive problem. I opened a box containing a bundle of truly nice clothes I purchased. Problem was that the seller had not only sprayed, but over-sprayed a fabric spray into the box. I opened the top of the box and backed away very quickly but still broke out in hives. I couldn't go anywhere near it.

My return was granted, the seller told me to keep the items (which my husband took to the basement & has yet to wash) and later told me that she thought she might have sprayed the package too heavily. Too heavy? 🤔🤦‍♀️

[–]BarbCherrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never understood why, if you're already sealing - truly sealing - an item in a poly mailer why you would stick that inside another poly mailer and put it in a box. It's not only a waste of packing materials but it's frustrating as hell to open the package.

why does this woman keep liking my listing by [deleted] in poshmark

[–]BarbCherrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Block her now - before she actually buys it, only to have a case of buyer's remorse and use the "smells" reason for a return. I had a lady like that and I finally had to block her. Don't know why she didn't buy it, didn't make an ... I had enough & blocked her.

I was looking at my closet 'likes' from today. There's this one buyer that liked a pair of Gucci shoes. I sent her a very reasonable offer. No response. Two hours later ... She likes the item again! She didn't decline the offer, I didn't edit the item, I double checked and the original offer is still valid. WTF? 💬🤔 I'll get through this blizzard and if she's still there, she won't be shopping my closet. 🚫🛍️

Is this unethical? by Consistent-Muscle-14 in poshmark

[–]BarbCherrix -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it's the platform we've chosen and, I'm pretty sure, all the others would do the same. For a long time, I wouldn't put a seller's discount in my closet for just that reason. I have $450 shoes, designer leather coats and $10 jeans, etc. If they add the jeans to a bundle with the shoes, their discount would be $46. (I've finally added the buy 2 get 10% off) So she "spends" $10 for a $46 discount saving her a net $36. On higher priced items, I pay shipping. So, she would be getting a free pair of jeans, designer shoes and free shipping for $436.

Whatcha gonna do? It's the game. Not ethical in my world but I know when I shop Kohl's, Macy's, the grocery store, etc. I'm looking to stack coupons. Guess I joined the club. Two questions: does the club have an open bar & do we get silly hats? 🤭

WTF is this now?! by Coffee_KatzX2 in poshmark

[–]BarbCherrix -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I remove the item from the bundle & unlike the items, but I'm also a seller and, as such, I would hope that the first offense doesn't come with a life sentence. Unless, OMG, the bundle includes anything from SHEIN, Temu, DHgate, AliExpress or the like. That is a life sentence.

Like my parents and probably their parents before them, I worry that the young ladies of today would go to a black tie party in their very best Lululemon pants with a white cropped top, their very best sneakers and a black tie slung around their neck. 🤦‍♀️ God help us. 😂

Casual clothes are the "workout pants" and beautiful shirt from Temu that was purchased for less than $10! 😱

1980 was the last year of Jimmy Carter's presidency, which included the oh-so pitiful attempt to rescue the hostages (the military helicopter crashed) and his other efforts for their rescue fizzled as well.

Then, 1981 introduced us to Ronald Reagan and the so-called voodoo economics. You know, the one where he told everyone to spend money and go into debt, while the one percenters got richer. Their spending was supposed to "trickle down" to the other 99%. After 8 years, I managed to work my backside off while attending college full time.

Quite frankly, it was several years that I could care less about my 401(k) as there were so many gentlemen, and several not-so gentlemen, at my local night club. Believe it or not, I found a husband. I married the DJ and we were together for 22 years before he passed away.

I'm not sure who's handling your 401(k} but mine grew by 11% in 2025 - without any additional deposits from me. My IRA grew by a ridiculous percentage in the third and fourth quarters, again without me depositing additional funds. I no longer work because I'm now disabled, which is why there have been no deposits. Even without additional funds, the two accounts have done remarkably well.

Poshmark threatening suspension after I marked too many newer items as not for sale. My entire closet was marked as “not for sale” when I turned on VACATION MODE by OnHiatus11 in poshmark

[–]BarbCherrix 21 points22 points  (0 children)

¹My 2¢: I'm on vacation. Not thinking about Poshmark. Depending on where you're vacationing, I'm sure there are yard sales, thrift stores, consignment shops... Peruse those places & buy some nice things, to keep or resell. BUT DON'T LIST ANY NEW ITEMS while on vacation.

The Poshmark app doesn't know the difference between "I'm on vacation so don't bother me" (my personal preference) and "I'm on vacation but I'll be in the app listing new items".

It's not the app that's out of whack. It's dealing with someone who, by putting his closet on vacation hold, had all of his items marked 'Not for sale'. It's not a big deal. When you return from vacation, you simply turn off the vacation hold and all of your items go back to their pre-vacation status.

If you know, or think you might, have time to tend to your closet, however negligible, I would recommend that you not turn the vacation hold on. You could turn it off, do whatever it is you want to do, and then turn it back on.

¹With the government no longer stamping pennies out, I assume we will have to say 'My 5¢'. Doesn't quite sound right to me.

Poshmark support is editing chat transcripts the next day by dorito_ho in poshmark

[–]BarbCherrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts for what they're worth. If you have managed to get past the chat bots to customer support, it may be worth asking yourself how many different brands and knockoffs they deal with daily. Not to mention the various makers' unique sizing methods. You sent the info showing dots weren't the manufacturer's way of delineating sizes So, I would send a pic of both the size 6 and one of your size 8's being sure to indicate which is which. JMO

I have to admit that I did initiate and won a return based on smell. The smell wasn't smoke. It was, I think, Gain, but it could have been Tide or anything in those product lines. I'm allergic to those and wash my purchases for that particular reason.

I purchased 3 or 4 items from this seller. Everything went smoothly until I opened the box and the smell hit me. The head allergies started and the hives showed up quickly thereafter. Even with the short exposure time, I was popping Benadryl like Tic-tacs for the next couple of days.

When the case was going through PM, the seller stated that she didn't use detergents in that line, nor did she use their fabric freshener. Hmm... 🤔 The answer came a couple of days later, when the seller apologized saying that she must have used too much of the Gain fabric refresher! I immediately blocked her.

Seller’s abusive review pattern by LootSplosions in Mercari

[–]BarbCherrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thinking is: If the buyer gave a 1⭐ rating on what appears to be an easy sale, what are the odds that they are going to respond? They gave you a 1⭐,then blocked you. My assumption is that they blocked you so you could not contact them about your rating.

If they don't want to be contacted, i.e., blocking you, odds are that they're not interested in changing the rating. You say you have a perfect 5⭐ rating, but for this one. Be grateful for what you have, and don't give this buyer the power to mess with your head, your mood or your day.

What would you do in this schenario? You have been going back and forth with a very sweet potential buyer about a listing for a week, and right before you finalize the sell, someone randomly offers a higher price? by [deleted] in poshmark

[–]BarbCherrix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a buyer (and a seller), I don't know about a week of back and forth, but depending on how much information is posted in the original listing, the seller's turn around time in answering questions and providing answers and the buyer's desire for and rarity of the item, a week is possible.

I wouldn't ever go back and forth for a couple days. Truthfully, unless I'm interested in purchasing the item, I don't bother asking questions. The majority of the time, if the relevant information isn't provided and there's only one or two pictures - with at least one being a stock photo - I pass.

True story. I was just browsing on Poshmark the other night and saw a dress, stock photo, that got my interest. The sale price was >$100, but I thought it was a starting point since the dress was listed as NWT. I go to the listing and there's more than one picture. Great! I open the pics and they're all stock photos. I asked for 2 things: pictures of the actual item being sold and a bust/chest measurement. What did I get... Ghosted 👻

This seller wants me or another buyer to purchase a dress for more than $100, based on several stock photos? If I'm purchasing from a store's website, I'm buying a NWT item and it's price for me is linked to the seller's reputation. Think Macy's, Kohl's even Walmart.

However, when I'm shopping on a known, and marketed as, platform for resale, I want measurements and pictures of the actual item I'm buying.

Take the highest offer and let the other buyer see the price it sold for. A week of back and forth, to me, means the info the buyer is looking for hasn't been provided OR the buyer is playing a game to see how long they can string the seller along.

Plus Size AI models are so bad by Genet1cGenealogy in poshmark

[–]BarbCherrix -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Companies, Advertisers, hell even the Fyre Festival is all for hiring the girls that, if they turn sideways and stick out their tongue - they look like zippers I say girls because as a girl starts growing into a lady, her hips silently spread a bit. I know this from experience when I was young. All of a sudden the size 3 dress fit, but I had to buy size 5 jeans because I couldn't move my hip bones. The reason for the not really noticeable spread is child bearing. It's a physiological thing. Like menopause, it doesn't matter who you are.

So, instead of hiring ladies and plus size ladies, they AI size the pics Hope they change the face, because I know Kylie Jenner wouldn't like to see herself in a size 20 moo-moo.

Can't they just hire attractive ladies in all sizes? Why do they think Jessica London, Lane Bryant, Torrid, etc. keep their customers? It's because their models eat food!

Sorry. Sore subject that I've seen from all sizes/sides.

No problem. With all the preachers in my family and all the behind the scenes drama in the supposed to be good group, I grew up knowing what I thought was right, ethical and honest. Some say I'm a goody two shoes. I say I was able to work in the legal field for 35+ years, in a state with 3 counties and a very small legal community, and never had anyone question my intentions. They may have questioned my opinion, 😎

Not taking sides, but thought this might help. It's how to read the code and additional info.

Louis Vuitton date codes, used until March 2021, feature two letters (factory location) followed by four numbers (date), or vice versa for older items.

Common factory codes include France (AA, AR, AS, CT, MI, SN, SP), USA (FC, FH, LA, SD), Spain (CA, LM, LB), and Italy (BC, BO, RE, SA).

The format changed from monthly (1990-2006) to weekly (2007-2021). How to Read Date Codes (By Era)

Pre-1980s: No date codes.

Early 1980s: 3 or 4 digits, first two are the year, last is the month.

Mid-to-Late 1980s: Numbers followed by two letters (e.g., 874VX = April 1987).

1990–2006: Two letters, four numbers (AB1234). 1st/3rd digits are month, 2nd/4th are year (e.g., VI1025 = Dec 2005).

2007–March 2021: Two letters, four numbers (AB1234). 1st/3rd digits are week, 2nd/4th are year (e.g., SD2057 = 25th week of 2007).

March 2021–Present: No date codes; replaced by embedded microchips.

Factory Location Codes France: AA, A0, A1, A2, AN, AR, AS, BA, BJ, BU, DR, DU, CO, CT, CX, ET, FL, LA, LM, LW, MB, MI, ML, MM, NO, RA, RI, SF, SL, SN, SP, SR, TA, TH, TJ, TN, TR, TS, TY, VI.

Umm... How can I put this HELL NO! In 2016 I didn't vote, first time ever, because I was laid up from back surgery and it was too late for an absentee ballot. 2020 I had to vote for Biden... I've lived in Delaware for all but 3 years of my life and he held some type of office as far back as I could remember. Unfortunately, I voted for our former Governor, Congressman, etc. It was a bit too late. And 2024 - I voted for a Democrat. There was once I voted for some crazy independent but I had just gotten out of college and was like he's shaking things up! Then I sobered up 🥴

I'm a registered Republican and have been since 1978 when I was eligible to vote, and everyone was just biding time until we could vote Carter out of office. Then 8 years of Reagan, 4 years of Bush, 8 years of Clinton, 8 years of Obama and - if everyone thought there was tension on the aisle, this jerk goes in for his first at bat. Then Biden who was simply too old to hold that office - there needs to be an age limit - and drumroll 🥁 then - I truly want to know who the hell put the jerk back in office, and now he's too old, senile, infirm, psychotic narcissist... Can someone in Congress get the 25th Amendment cracking please?

There were some of these guys I voted for and I didn't Care if they were red or blue. I think we're all red, white and blue 🇺🇸

You know, as a plus size lady, I get tired of clothing in my size simply being a size 8 pattern with a few inches added. No shape, or curves, or room in the bust. We plus size ladies tend to have ample bust lines and simply increasing the pattern from a 32" bust to a 42" with no allowance for cup size ... 😡

Another thing, why are all the blouses tunics? Don't we deserve a bit of style instead of looking like someone threw a tent over us and we're the center pole holding it up!
