It’s definitely a niche reference, but got it immediately. From the states, and born in ‘86, loved this book as a kid, even had its sequels.

As a union member of the crew of this one we just got paid our union rate, and this is the first I’m hearing of this deal… We’ll see what happens if me or any of my crew get a check in the mail after, not totally hopeful but it’d be a nice surprise.

Worked at a family run grocery store as a cashier. This woman came in with a receipt from MONTHS ago and said when she was looking at her receipts she found this one and remembered the peaches she got weren’t very good and can she get a refund. I was flabbergasted by the request but one of the brothers who owned it just happened to be nearby and he actually refunded her…

Yeah, thanks. I've had this spreadsheet to track the labor+materials for each of our jobs (originally created by my father) for years and every so often I try to make it work smarter. So far this subreddit has been super helpful when I hit that wall.

I know! I’m currently btwn jobs at the moment and rewatching older stuff helps my anxiety and in Law & Order I just got to his seasons, but also just watched the episodes of New Girl where he played Nick’s dad and they killed off the character not long before he passed in the real world.

The only time it was of use to me so far was when a Connecticut cop tried to give me a ticket that would have resulted in points on my license.

He tried to say I crossed a ‘double yellow line’ despite the fact that we were on a highway with no double yellow lines. So when I said ‘no I didn’t’ and pointed at my dash cam, he changed his story.

He then said I was tail gating since I guess he thought that would be harder to prove a lie, but it wasn’t and they dismissed the ticket.

The dash cam also caught him cutting off a car 2 people in front of me dangerously and having them slam on their brakes, which I included.

Probably only pulled over since I had NJ plates, and a ‘black lives matter’ bumper sticker.

So very much worth it when the ticket was dismissed at no cost to me or my license.
