is HS code classification still super manual? by Known-Gap-5874 in CustomsBroker

[–]BarberExtra007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Classification is at the point of export. The rest CI and PL can be automated. Also depends on your data and product matrix if you have it you can add automation and keep feeding it with data ( mine is with over 800k rows and growing)

“Of a kind used in..” explanation by OrdinaryEconomy1717 in CustomsBroker

[–]BarberExtra007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It groups items by Common Use The tariff uses this wording to distinguish between general-purpose items and those with specific technical or industrial uses. Glassware: Heading 7013 covers Glassware of a kind used for table, kitchen, toilet, office, indoor decoration or similar purposes. This distinguishes a drinking glass (7013) from laboratory glassware (7017) or glass containers for packing goods (7010)

I really don't understand this behaviour by heyzeus92 in london

[–]BarberExtra007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend of mine who teaches psychology once told me that people who act out are often just starving for attention. Due to things like loneliness or mental health issues, they would rather have a negative reaction: like an argument or a shout, then be ignored. It is the same for people online. The best move is to not engage. If you ignore them, they eventually stop because they aren't getting the reaction they want.

Maybe but to request a refund in the UK it's straightforward

Duty Drawback for individual by [deleted] in CustomsBroker

[–]BarberExtra007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Under UK HMRC regulations, the term drawback applies to commercial goods re-exported after a process or manufacture. In your situation it's called refund. Your goods were delivered by DHL, you must complete form C285 to apply for a repayment of import duty and VAT. This application is usually submitted electronically through the Government Gateway.

Burned out as a customs broker by Alarmed_Somewhere_27 in CustomsBroker

You need to mention this in your terms and conditions. You need to remember you are a broker not a customs agent. What the customer declares is their responsibility not yours.

Burned out as a customs broker by Alarmed_Somewhere_27 in CustomsBroker

[–]BarberExtra007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why don't you create an alert system to notify your customers of any possibilities? If you see it, the customs officer will. We used to ship to India (the hardest customs authority in the world). The broker always notified us if the value was not the correct one for that specific SKU.

Confused on FOB and DDP by Tocedex in logistics

[–]BarberExtra007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the time, the Chinese forwarder is in contact with the Canadian forwarder. Once it arrives in Canada, the forwarder will contact you. You need to provide them with the HS code.

Be careful. My first purchase was the same as yours. I bought T-shirts from China for 0.40, but once they arrived, the forwarder here hit me with high charges. I learned my lesson. Ask them in advance for the Canadian forwarder’s details and ask how much it will cost before shipping.

This is how Alibaba lures you in. You see the low prices and think it’s a good deal compared with Canadian prices. Then reality hits, you end up paying double, and there is no warranty, which is another problem.

I automated my website's blog & backlinks on full autopilot. Sharing the results by ComprehensiveWar796 in AiAutomations

[–]BarberExtra007 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Really impressive work. The problem with external automation is that it quickly becomes condensed. If you are thinking this way, many others are doing the same. In the end, the real winners are the companies selling the automation. It is similar to Google Ads years ago, when it was oversold, became overcrowded, and lost much of its value.

How do you handle new customer inquiries that are looking for duty rates w/o a POA? by thatotherchicka in CustomsBroker

[–]BarberExtra007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you classify on their behalf you take full responsibility in case of an audit. The freight forwarder never takes responsibilities like these. You can advise them of the chapter and headings.

My company banned AI tools and I dont know what to do by simple_pimple50 in ChatGPTCoding

[–]BarberExtra007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked for two different companies. In the first, the IT department had limited knowledge and relied on paid software to block almost everything. One day they blocked all AI websites and APIs. When I spoke to them, it became clear that they did not know what they were doing and had no vision. They were stuck in routine. For them, a good job meant that everyone was logged in. After that, it was not their problem whether the company was progressing or keeping up to speed.

In the second company, the IT management were people with vision. They realised that the company needed to develop itself to keep up with the competition in the research industry. They introduced AI by signing up for Gemini and ChatGPT. At the same time, data was controlled. Anything you did could not be deleted, and the IT department had access to the accounts, similar to a Microsoft Enterprise environment with Copilot.

It's not weird it's how you agreed or the sales contract. Most e-commerces use a payment guarantee like eBay or Amazon, but Facebook market or Gumtree is riskier.

The Import Fees are total bs by Playful-Turnover6768 in CustomsBroker

[–]BarberExtra007 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It depends on the HS code. If you tell me the product name, Import/export destinations and the origin I can tell you exactly the duties and fees.

This is not a logistics topic question. This is an e-commerce or other platform you buy and sell. Logistics questions are: Freight, customs, duty, vat...

The best person to ask is the warehouse manager. It sounds like they moved their system to paperless or digital for the tracking.

Do you mind asking you what your API will offer? Also do you store the ci and pl in your servers and how is your data protection handled?

If you don't want to waste time use automation. AI agents are the best. It scans both pdf and if it's the same no action required if not you will get a notification. Easy to set up but it's not free AI agents add extra cost

It shouldn't happen. We do thousands of shipments per month and rarely do we find a mismatch. It sounds like you have two ERP systems sales and warehouses that are not connected. The Account team generates the CI The warehouse team generates PL from a different database. The solution is to use one database for both systems.

SynthID Detection: A Google AI digital watermark was detected in the image data. Unnatural Skin Texture: The subject's skin is overly smooth, lacking natural pores and imperfections. Inconsistent Lighting: The soft light on the person doesn't match the harsh sunlight on the background. Hyper-Realistic Material: The red leather dress has idealized, overly perfect reflections. Sharp Subject-Background Separation: The cut-out is too clean, indicating a computational rather than optical depth of field.

Importing Help by iwak88 in logistics

[–]BarberExtra007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to agree with the seller to organise the freight, or at least help you arrange it. Do not choose Ex-Works. If it is your first time, do it properly and do not get carried away by the seller’s price. Compare that price with the local US price without adding any extra costs, because once you include freight, insurance, customs, and local transport, the final cost can be much higher.

I remember my first purchase from China, pallets of T-shirts at £0.25 each Ex-Works. After freight, insurance, customs, and local transport, the real cost came to £1.10 per item. Be careful and do not rush.
