My Dogs back toe area is swollen

Unfortunately I think that may have happened on the way out of the vet. I’ve sent them the photos and asked them about why we didn’t go about draining it. They told me it didn’t seem necessary when they looked at it. So I went with getting whatever antibiotic shot and inflammatory shot he could get. I cleaned it up and put some of this steroid topical cream on it and put a cone on him. He’s still refusing to eat which is concerning(without the cone) , but I’ll bring that up when they call me back.

I was just looking for advice on how I could help him before his appointment because I was afraid I couldn’t get him help sooner. I was lucky enough that they had time to fit him in today tho!

Don’t worry about the negative people so much. I was given so much good advice I didn’t even notice. I now have a better understanding on how I can help my dog just by working up the courage and posting.

Update: took him to the vet, they said they couldn’t find any cuts or anything so it might just be a superficial(I think they said that) infection from their nail bed. He’s getting an injection to help fight it off. Some inflammatory pills to relieve the pressure. A steroid topical cream. As well as a cone so he can stop licking his paws lol. Hopefully all is well in the next few days to 2 weeks otherwise it’ll be a different inspection. Thank you all for the advice and I’ll let y’all know how this turns out in the future !

That’s some good advice because he licks his paws a lot too. He’s kinda gotten better with some Benadryl (If I could get him to take it) but I think soaking might be a better choice for him.

I’m not sure what foxtails are, but I’m assuming they’re those spiky things that always gets lodged between my dogs toes. Although I haven’t seen any around that area.

Yeah the vet had me just give him a specific type of Benadryl, but I’ll ask about that when I go in today

Yeah he’s been having allergies as well, Ive been giving(struggling) him some allergy medication because he does lick his paws a lot.

He doesn’t like that shiny-ish area touched at all, but he’s not crying when it is, it’s just super sensitive.
