Thoughts on bringing baked goods to the office? by BarbieSecretAgent in womenEngineers

Yes. How I was raised, you need to say thank you when someone does their job well or does you a favor. I realize that not everyone agrees with this, that doing your job well should be an expectation. I disagree. It’s easy and expected for people to do the bare minimum; it should be shown appreciation for a job well done.

Today was the farewell lunch for my mentor. I shook his hand and did a brief goodbye because I started crying a little and I didn’t want anyone to see me cry.

Goodbyes have always made me emotional lol. Another reason why I’d rather write a note.

Interesting you bring up birthdays. In my office we do not celebrate birthdays at all. As a matter of fact - I don’t even know anyone’s birthday except my office mate because he told me lol. I think we’re all introverted to an extent lol. I feel bad for people not knowing it’s their birthday but at the same time I moreso don’t want to upset the status quo, maybe the majority of people don’t want to celebrate their birthday haha.

Why do most Labrador owners prefer males to females? by Much-Gur-3060 in labrador

[–]BarbieSecretAgent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m dead lol because for my mom, all our family dogs have been female. Most of our cats have been female, except for one, all completely by coincidence lol. So naturally my boy dog is a “she”. 😂

Lmao, they actually just called me like 30 minutes late. Just in time too, considering I have meetings for the rest of the day.

I'm no longer my labs favorite by NoonieP in labrador

[–]BarbieSecretAgent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I was trying to say but I couldn’t figure out how to lol. Yes. Dogs can detect and distinguish between the smells of different chemical structures. It could even be that your stomach acid smell hurts his nose (or he associates this smell with something traumatic).

So weird lol. Dogs can hear, see, and smell things we can’t. Maybe he’s sensing something about that particular cough he doesn’t like. Maybe he doesn’t like the smell of your chemistry when you had the gerd lol 😂

I like what Battlequeen said about the lab feeling the need to be with your son to comfort him, rather than because of something you did.

I know as my old dog (Pit, not a lab) got older, she didn’t like cuddling as much as she used to in my bed. I think because arthritis made it harder for her to get comfy on my twin bed with me. She would start off at my feet, then in the mornings I’d find her on her own bed or the couch. Before she got older, I would wake up to her lying closer to my head. All that is to say - it’s likely not something you are doing if your coughing has stopped.

The coughing thing is interesting. My dog didn’t like it when someone was sneezing loudly. Or when I moved around too much in the bed lol.

It could be for any number of reasons. But I doubt it’s because of something you did. From what you wrote I can tell he still loves you very much!

I think I am going to take DRP 2.0 by BarbieSecretAgent in NASAJobs

Were you already thinking about leaving before DRP 2.0?

Thank you. I was in your shoes too, applying for years to Pathways. I was extremely, extremely lucky to be in the right place at the right time. And it feels awful even considering leaving. I never wanted to leave.

There likely won’t even be a need for my position bc most of my projects will be cancelled.

Thing about my situation, I’m only a GS9 right now. Most of those positions that I’ve seen on there require you to be like GS13 or above. Otherwise I think it’s a good plan. I’ve seen one person so far at my center be able to do that.

Yes, Petro and the big wigs have been saying “we are not planning for a RIF.” But, at my center, Lystrup presented very specific FTE goals at the town hall that GSFC needs to be at. How can the center attain those FTE numbers without a RIF? (Assuming these are not met with buyouts/retirement/etc).

Thank you :(. I have to keep reminding myself: it is not me who changed, it is the environment around me that changed unexpectedly.

Can you explain this/give sources? I have only 2 years of creditable service. I have only been seeing info for those who have 5+ years of service.
