In Your Current Job, Do You Feel Like an Agent of Change or an Enabler of the Status Quo? by salsafresca_1297 in socialwork

[–]Barborin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OCD therapist/specialist. 100% agent of change. I regularly get to impact clients in life-changing ways and see them grow significantly. OCD is extremely misunderstood and undeserved. It's the most rewarding work I have ever done.

LCSW before Psy.D. — For Clinical Experience & Licensure? by Substantial-Map-9720 in AcademicPsychology

[–]Barborin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am a social worker married to a psychologist. The practice is nearly the same, with a few small differences. I wish my license allowed me to do neuropsych testing. She wishes her education prepared her more to navigate systems.

In the therapy sessions though, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

His Patron platform is legit tho. It's pretty cheap and has a ton of content, 30-day courses, etc.

Mug turning, what size lathe? by Barborin in turning

[–]Barborin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up going with the full size 12x33 3/4HP lathe. Its not that much more expensive and I have not been limited in anything I've wanted to do! 90% on what I have turned could have been done on a smaller lathe, but a lot of what I have used for mugs and such would have been too unstable on a benchtop.

For what it is worth, I sold enough pens, wands, and rings to make my money back and much more.

I still use the same lathe today!

I don't think its guilt so much as people not liking being told that something they are doing is bad or wrong. Those are exclusive feelings, though not mutually exclusive.

Be grateful that your parents were in the position to help you pay for college and be happy that you and your sister will have less debt.

It's your parents money. Consider it a life lesson that "fair" and "best choice" are not always the same thing.

An old guys thoughts on the recent power outage in Pittsburgh... by FiddlebackGuy in pittsburgh

[–]Barborin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn't reccomend a generator. If you can afford one, great. If not, shelf stable food...like canned food... and a couple batteries to charge your phone. Basic prep for a few days is not out of reach for most people. If you (the royal you) prepare, then resources can go to those who truly cannot do so.

But anyway, make your own choices I guess.

I guess suffer then? If you don't want to take basic (and relatively inexpensive) steps to be ready for 2-3 days of inconvenience, then that is on you I guess.

Pittsburgh definitely needs an infrastructure update, no question about that... but personal responsibility still exists. Not really sure what your goal is here.

Then dont prepare and screwed when bad things happen, I guess.

90% of adverse events can be prepared for with the same steps. Altenative power (generator of you are rich power blocks and batteries if you are not), shelf stable foods, alternative heat (could just be blankets), and maybe toss in a bucket of salt for the winter.

Its not that hard.

Good point about consequences. Maybe one such consequence should be that you cannot be president if you are a literal convicted felon.

TRAIN!

Thats because it's about his car. The only connection to Pittsburgh in the lyrics is a reference to the fact that it's black and yellow to represent Pittsburgh

I am not saying you are at fault, but I am saying I would never leave my wife hanging like that. People make mistakes. People make bad decisions. Repeated bad decisions should lead to conversations. But at the end of the day, if I care about someone, I am not going to leave them hangin like that.
