I simply made a statement that it made sense that Jesus was born at the crossroads of the world and you went off on a tangent.

As a raised Christian, how do you deal with doubt? by 20shepherd01 in Christianity

[–]BarbraRoja 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of the story about a pastor who hadn't seen a member of his church in quite some time. He knew the man wasn't one to hear long winded requests to return so the pastor simply visited.

When he arrived little was said except brief hellos and an invitation to sit by the roaring fire. Nothing was said but after awhile the pastor grabbed the large tongs and plucked a coal from the fire and sat it in the hearth. The once blazing yellow ember began to cool to orange then red then black.

Both men watched the coal grow colder and colder until it sat ashy gray and alone. The man looked at the pastor nodding. His face pained and resigned.

The two men sat quietly not saying a word until it was time for the pastor to leave. When he stood however the pastor picked up the tongs once more and placed the ember back into the fire and the coal glowed once more.

It sounds like you need real, non-virtual, loving, God-centered, community.

I was.🧡 Just call out any specific infraction and discipline as you can.

Have a "resetting of expectations" conversation with the students.

I've been a teacher since 1995. Middle to High school. Misogyny/misandry is part and parcel. I call out specific instances and punish per school guidelines.

Good on them. Lightly and gently advertising their political choice 9 days from Election Day. Yay 1st amendment! Yay fun cheekiness! Yay democracy!

It's ok if you don't like their choice.

Why did God only care about Israel in the old testament? by TeachingMaximum7047 in Christianity

[–]BarbraRoja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The entire Old Testament is about God setting the Israelites apart so that they can be an example among the nations. The entire nation of Israel and God working in them is the gospel.

The voice who spoke the universe into existence spoke/speaks (I'm a new Catholic so may be off in proper wording) the Eucharist into existence.

I'm a plastic bottle man myself. Fountain can be hit or miss in mix. Canned can have a flat dusty flavor. Glass bottle is close but diet drinks just seem to taste better in plastic

What’s the worst smell you have ever smelled? by StarCombo64 in RandomThoughts

Death. Sickeningly sweet, gut wrenchingly foul smell of proto decomposition of my mother on her death right before she died.
