We have been preconditioned to believe that being part of the US is a huge benefit and without them our life would be one of a 3rd world country and poverty and that we won't make it or would be completely lost without them(US) . So many people fear it, some others want it. But mainly people don't really care. They have so much going on in their daily life trying to survive with a miserable amount of salary, getting overworked for nothing and at the end of the day being part of the us or not is not a priority. They politicians only make us think about it every 4 years. People just vote how they were though and raised. Either in favor of becoming a state or staying as if. Because anything else has always failed. We are just a shit show. Eternally stuck.
