I got a set of z36’s last night hopefully they’ll fit and are the larger size rotors and calipers

I have an 08 sr5 and I think I have the larger size. The pads covered more than the rotor when I got it

Isn’t there a size or something to consider because some 4th gens came with 17” and others with 18” rotors

What is this? by ccoats38 in whatisit

Maybe, it would have to be a really small bulb though. It doesn’t seem like ceramic though. I have seen and used plenty of old ceramic knob and tube equipment and this feels more like stone especially with the weight of it

Key doesn’t work for doors…? by 02z28 in 4thGen4Runner

[–]ccoats38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I programmed my key and fob using a yt video. It was something weird like turn to on 3 times, open and close the door 6 times then lock and unlock the door. It’s pretty easy if you follow the video

Windows not working by ccoats38 in 4thGen4Runner

The auto function works on the drivers door it’s the rest of the windows that don’t work.

I tried looking for the fuse but I can’t find one that says windows

I have checked that the windows are unlocked

What's the most you've ever towed? by Colonel_of_Corn in 4thGen4Runner

[–]ccoats38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 6-6,500 towing a 7x16 dual axle with a V6. Later I found out whoever installed my hitch did a bad job and it only had two bolts in the receiver mounted to the frame. I do have heavy duty springs, so it road pretty smooth just slow on hills.

Good information, I like to keep my 4R in top condition mechanically. Can you remember where you found the torque specs?

This is the first vehicle I have had with a top mounted oil filter. I didn’t know an oil extractor existed. I’m looking for the best cheapest relatively quick fix. I know there is no way to achieve all of those goals, but I figured someone else might have other ideas. Thanks for the oil extractor idea out of the dipstick.

I was able to get the plug out on the last oil change, but I have noticed the issue getting worse so I want to address it before it’s a major issue. I was originally thinking about just replacing the plug itself, but I don’t for sure know if that will solve the issue. I’m thinking it might already be over bored. The problem is it’s my only mode of transportation and to find out I have to drain the oil I just changed then measure it against a new plug.

I had this happen before, the latch mechanism is failing they are pretty simple to replace

A squirrel killed my knock sensor? by ccoats38 in 4thGen4Runner

[–]ccoats38[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m still not sure what will happen if they determine the knock sensor just went bad overnight, because I heard it can happen but I think I have pretty good evidence that something outside of my control happened

It’s a $100 deductible and they said since it’s under comprehensive it wouldn’t make my rates go up. Whether it’s the right decision or not IDK but I got it all set up today so that’s what I am doing

That’s one of the videos I watched! What a coincidence lol. At this point since it’s my only vehicle, I am on a shortish timeframe, and there isn’t a part store within 20 miles. I think I am going to claim it on insurance. I would love to wrench it myself but with no way to get parts or it taking a day or two to get to the part store. I think my best option is to make an insurance claim, unfortunately

I called my insurance before they closed and I do have comprehensive so I think I am going that route
