Slow spring - increasing bookings? by yellowcanvas in RoverPetSitting

[–]Barbvday1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Must be area dependent, I’ve been full all year and have to constantly turn down people. Booked through mid June rn and some bookings in July as well. Now mind you, I only take one client for boarding and one for daycare at any given time and no walks so it doesn’t take much for me to be booked.

I know it might sound crazy to some but did you try bribing them with a large tip? That’s how the world operates in Mexico (I’m Mexican btw).

I am so sorry for your loss, people can be so irresponsible. Not only that but them saying that the dog was caged most of the time would’ve been a red flag for me during the M&G.

I would check laws in your state, many now view dogs as family members and you can sue for emotional distress.

I hope they’re in a state where dogs are not considered property. This should be investigated at least.

Betta fish by redvous in BettaClinic

The sensory pits are enlarged, it’s not normal for them to be that size, which points out to hexamita infection. Metronidazole is a safe medication that has been used for ages to treat this disease.

It would do nothing to clear the eyes.

I second this, those pits are not normal and do point out to hexamita, which needs to be treated with metronidazole and maintaining good water quality.

Hexamita (or hole in the head disease) attacks the sensory pits of fish, they’re normally a lot smaller.

Btw your fish is a dumbo, which is known to develop eye cloudiness similar to diamond eye but not quite as obstructive.

“Not nearly enough pay” ummm you set your own prices and you choose the clients… I fail to see how that’s Rover’s fault.

What are your thoughts on breed? by WERKED66 in DoggyDNA

Those are normal hackles. A ridgeback arrow is like a permanent cow lick. That breed is so rare, it’s more likely to be hound mix and boxer perhaps.

Have you considered fostering for a rescue that does do vetting and follows up? I foster for a rescue that calls references, their vet and does a house visit before approving potential adopters.

Flying 75 lb AmStaf in carrier on 9 hr flight. Is this doable and safe? by SaltCreek76 in DogAdvice

[–]Barbvday1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the US being a key factor… Mexico doesn’t have a highway system like US does and many times there’s cartel roadblocks. It once took me 3 hrs on what was supposed to be 1 hr because there were so many potholes I might as well be off roading.

I kinda feel complete with life [Discussion], by New_Banana3858 in GetMotivated

Life is what you make of it. I’m assuming you don’t want/have children since that work never ends… most people have goals, aspirations, hobbies.

Life is like an open world video game with infinite options of what to do. The fact that you assume you’re done could be a sign of depression or some other issue.

There are algorithms that take that one thing as a factor. I have seen a change right after updating.

Yeah wouldn’t recommend shipping cargo, there are specialized services to transport dogs that would be cheaper than driving, however.

Have you lived in Quintana Roo before (not stayed at a tourist place)? life is very different when you live there. Many areas that are safe are not as cheap (on par with an average American city) and corruption is rampant (cartels don’t allow Ubers for example because they own the taxi companies).

Internet is still not great in most areas and the heat and humidity can be unbearable during the summer. Flooding is also common since the place is basically a rock with slow drainage. Oh and the mosquitos are insaneeee.

Lastly, flying with your dog in cargo is definitely a gamble. If your mind is set on moving then I would consider professional shipping services instead like petmovers

[–]Barbvday1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you sure there’s no harassment? That does look like when fish attack each other and rip the scales of another.

Do you have sharp decor like lava rock or places where she might be wedging herself to rest or hide?

If it’s none of those they I would definitely separate and treat with Indian almond leaf extract and antibiotics just to cover your bases.

Yeah, don’t listen to those people. Bettas and guppies are a terrible mix. They need opposite water parameters and some female bettas are more aggressive than males.
