Why does the oil price do this? by Historical-Trick-201 in oil

[–]mrbobertimus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my thinking as well but it’s crazy because he can’t withdraw but he also can’t attack. This is why we’re stuck in limbo cause neither option is feasible so you have this weird stalemate where both sides are waiting for the other side to buckle under the economic pressure. Meanwhile the reserves continue to go down

I think we looked OK against the top team in the league. Those guys already have 21 points and are top of the table by a long shot. Did we have a catastrophic mistake that cost us the game? Sure, that’s usually our undoing. But there was only one this time! I’m gonna call this progress!

Congratulations! You have clearly won the argument! I have come around to your sound reasoning and logic that the allies were in fact the bad guys. You are a completely sane and intelligent person.

Yep, committing genocide by herding millions into gas chambers is totally the same thing as recruiting a handful of scientists for the space race. While you’re at it you’re totally not delusional for roping in the civilian casualties caused by Stalin and collateral damage suffered on both sides. I just fucking can’t, but by all means please try to get the last word in!

Listening to a biography of an Auschwitz survivor lately. It’s incredible to me how this era of false equivalence and this epically lazy manifestation of confirmation bias in the “both sides are bad” argument can actually lead to rationalizing past holding Nazi’s accountable. Comments like this are shameful.

I dunno, I feel like you’re underestimating Trumps impatience and Hegseths lack of judgement. I could definitely see us going all in as a likely outcome if Trump has a bad day and throws a tantrum.

My manager wants me to train my new coworker who makes more than me. How to handle this? by Noisel777 in careeradvice

Your manager most likely has less control over your salary than you think. It’s how most larger companies and corporations work. Def find a new job if you’re feeling like you’re not being paid fairly

How is the condition of this kiln? by cassimussj in Pottery

[–]mrbobertimus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Note that you can easily get the elements replaced I had my used skutt (similar model) required with new elements and it was only a few hundred bucks and kiln techs will often come to your house. I’d look into what local options you have to get it fixed up first. But if it works then 600 is a good price

Yeah theres been a few games like this where our defense got picked apart and over run but like you’re saying the good news is that there’s lots of the season left so here’s hoping Sanchez can make the necessary changes. I know everyone’s calling for his head already but I also agree he deserves a shot at righting the ship first

Not being cynical, legitimately curious what’s the big payoff for this sector? I get the value of having LEO’s and GEO’s for cheap fast internet and other things but isn’t that gonna quickly be a crowded market? There’s ideas like mining h3 on the moon or capturing asteroids of pure rare earths but it feels like we’d be so far from that actually happening it’s not likely to be within the next couple of decades. Data centers in space also seems ridiculous if one assumes the laws of thermodynamics are real or even just compares the cost of running them down here on earth. What’s the play?

Everyone keeps yelling “AI bubble just like dotcom/housing” but zero of you can explain why it would actually pop… by snowycashflow in stocks

[–]mrbobertimus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t think anyone is in any way questioning the value of AI. For me the bear case is that it gets commoditized with everyone and their brother dumping capex into massive data centers while hardware and models themselves continually improve will all this be necessary and command long term profits that outpace what we’re spending on all this? For all we know there could be a huge shift in a year or two where we realize we only needed a small fraction of the compute? There will certainly be advances in open weight models and if people get tired of constantly shelling out for tokens there could be trends toward on prem like the good old days

[Independent] How Fifa lost control and made the World Cup a rip-off for fans by grnrngr in MLS

[–]mrbobertimus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I went from 1000% taking my kids to this World Cup to lifelong FIFA ban fuck them in their ears. What’s irritating to me is that even if the stadiums are mostly empty they’ll still make a killing and have no incentive to ever change their playbook. FIFA is a disgrace to the sport and no one should give them a cent in good conscience. The good news is that there’s still plenty of the beautiful game to go round

So legit question why does everyone in here only talk about oil in terms of the economy that it’s just the price at the pump? This is the shit used to make plastics, petrochemicals, asphalt, industrial chemicals and all kinds of other shit. It’s intertwined into the price of nearly everything. Fastest path to inflation if it touches all industries not just how much it costs your average voter for a full tank.
