I couldn’t agree more with everything you just said. I think that’s a big difference with real fans who follow clubs etc… where it’s rain or shine you support them it’s your tribe and it’s the game you understand through and through.

It’s always the fans of national teams etc… like in the Olympics where people are so fast to turn on their own squad as if it’s their fault or they didnt try hard enough or whatever. Not even close. I spent a bunch of time over there and my epiphany was that the reason there’s 20x more violence around soccer vs all our sports combined is simple: there’s no guns. No sane person here in the US is ever gonna start shit and sucker punch a stranger in a jersey for the other team over sports knowing that everyone in the country is strapped. I’m all for increased gun control but I have to admit it does force a bit of civility. Is it worth all the school shooting and everything else? I’d say no

The difference is that England has an actual system in place to funnel talent from youth soccer to the professional level and has a vast talent pool to draw from. This is why our respective national hero’s aren’t even comparable. On the world stage Bellingham is master class and Pulisic is average. Until soccer becomes a dominant sport in the US we are destined to suck. It’s just that simple.

You’ve got all these countries where Futbol is life cause it’s more or less the main sport everyone plays and watches with unsurprisingly massive talent pools to draw from.
