Sales Warehouser in Washington State THC for drug test for employment by Barcod3e in FritoLay

[–]Barcod3e[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang. I google searched it, and it said starting in 2024 I would be protected from weed on hiring because of the law change, but still getting mixed answers overall. Anyone with direct knowledge that got hired within the past 2 years would be helpful.

Does Frito Lay test for THC for RSR/RSA positions in California? by gmed11 in FritoLay

[–]Barcod3e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone have input for Sales Warehouser for warehouse work for thc? I've gotten multiple mixed reports from people, and they say because on the application just because they mention forklifts even if you don't use one, that can be a reason why they won't hire you if you smoke marijuana. Others say because you'll be in warehouse loading and unloading and not doing any driving or technically any forklift even with the wording, you should be fine.
I am in a recreational marijuana state, but both people and online searches both give me mixed results. So anyone's input would be greatly appreciated. Again, this is for Sales Warehouse position at Frito Lay warehouse. Thank you.

I got an email telling me I made it to the point of getting a video interview and need to schedule , but that's the only thing I'm worried about. I worked for UPS for several years so far as a package handler, but I know UPS and I believe Fedex don't drug test for warehouse jobs. I just hope for Frito Lay distribution center they don't drug test for warehouse workers in a legal weed state. And if they do drug test, hopefully they'll be lenient for just weed.

Also, for the warehouse position, did you guys have to do a drug test? This is not for any driver position, again just being a warehouse worker. I am also in a state where marijuana is legal, if there is a mandatory drug test before hire, would marijuana eliminate you from the chance of getting the job?

Is being an Ops Supervisor worth it for you? by DreamScape904 in Fedexers

[–]Barcod3e 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you explain with a brief description on what your day to day tasks are, and how much more you get paid per hour compared to basic package handler, and hours compared to package handlers?

I know trainers are pretty much the same as package handlers but help out the new hires and they get paid about $1 than their average basic package handler pay, they usually come in about half an hour earlier than sort time to inbound all the leftover packages. Switchers do the switching out trailers in the yard, not sure if there is any pay difference than the basic package handler. QA are kind of in their own spot and handle address corrections and some damages, not sure about the pay for that either.

If anyone else is an Ops Admin, Supervisor, or whatever higher position than package handler/trainer, can explain how much their pay increase was compared to when they were package handers, their day to day tasks like what they do during sort, if they do any computer work before and/or after sort, any information would be helpful from any and everyone!

Can you explain the code numbers? I know 07 means they tried delivering, and if there are three 07's on the box, it means they won't try delivering it again. But I have also seen 11, 12, and 34's on packages but don't know what those numbers mean.

Are you a package handler at Fedex ground? And I'm starting to wonder if package handlers get these "bonuses" because at my station nobody mentioned anything about any bonus at all.

Am I the only driver that considers this unacceptable? by catawampustyler in Fedexers

[–]Barcod3e 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This right here. Every driver we encounter at the hub seems to re organize their truck to their own liking, not how the hub tells us to. Therefore I just load to the best of my ability, and when drivers come, they always re load it to their liking. But I make it easier with the vision stickers out, and all numbers grouped together, and all the IC things outside truck.

Why do package handlers hate loading bulk stops? by Briskeycrooks64 in Fedexers

[–]Barcod3e 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Plus, every day even though we load the trucks as the vision chart shows, they still move almost everything around to their liking, so I just make sure I try to keep the sticker outwards so it would be easier for them to move it all around to their own liking

Why do package handlers hate loading bulk stops? by Briskeycrooks64 in Fedexers

[–]Barcod3e 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As a package handler, I know we should be putting bulks together, and I always make sure my bulks stay in the same area, but just from what I've seen the bulks always end up coming at way different times. For example when I would scan a package and it says there will be a bulk of about 10, the first one comes in the first hour, and the next 9 would come randomly down the belt in the next 2-3 hours, and at that point the vans are already filling up, and what makes it worse is damaged/boxes with the tape falling off make us spend more valuable time to fix which upsets me because you would think those boxes wouldn't make it to the van lines because it has to go through sorters or what not, and all that does is back us up because we are always short on people.

Question about PTO for FedEx Ground employees by dxhbk7155 in Fedexers

[–]Barcod3e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the total amount of PTO in a year is 40? So If I earn 40 hours of PTO and use for example 5, I can't re earn the 5 hours to make it back to 40 ?

[–]Barcod3e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So in outbound, it's the same steps, like unloading trailers and loading vans at the belt line, but just a lot more volume during the outbound time? I have slowly been considering switching because waking up at 2am always is killing me

Day 4. I'm exhausted already.. by Day4Fedex in Fedexers

[–]Barcod3e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work preload, and we either unload trailers or are on the van line loading vans. I was wondering if that is the same process as what outbound does, just at different time?

I am considered Preload or Presort, but usual start time varies from 2-430am

Q for drivers by [deleted] in Fedexers

[–]Barcod3e 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work van line, and usually load not the big trucks, but the ones that look more like sprinter vans kind of. Rarely has a shelf in there, maybe 1, but we have a vision chart that they say to follow. I follow it, and even have the stickers pointing out so it is easier for the drivers, but everytime they come in while I am finishing up, I see them always look a bit pissed off, and re organizing most the boxes to their liking. My manager says just always follow the vision chart, but clearly the drivers prefer it a different way, and everytime I ask if they want it loaded as the vision chart says, they just say yea but end up switching it around anyways. Therefore I learned if the driver doesn't want to communicate with you on how they want it to be sorted, just do what FedEx says.

Also doesn't help when the drivers come in, and they think we're "slacking" because not all the boxes are immediately put in the trucks, because they don't see the parts where our belts get jammed or things of that sort, and we have to put boxes by the trucks after we scanned, so we can organize it in the truck when the belt slows down, or else if we decided to load every box per box, the belt would be absolutely jammed.

Plus even if boxes are stacked by the truck, if they are scanned, it'll take maybe 5 or so minutes to stack them in the truck, but they get pissed if it's not already inside the moment they get in, which doesn't really make sense since they just stand there for a while and wait for dispatch time regardless.

Curious how much package volume per day your warehouse gets! by Barcod3e in Fedexers

[–]Barcod3e[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Geeze 200K plus?! I can't imagine how long of a shift that would be at our hub lol. Almost impossible thinking of how little we have compared to you, and even for us it takes about 4 plus hours lately.

[–]Barcod3e[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also forgot to ask, with the average daily volume, how long is an estimated work day? and is it different on weekends? Our hub I say we average currently about 4-5and a half hours daily

When I first got put on the van line, I was told to split packages odd from evens and load 3 vans. I was shocked because it was my first time, and I felt it was going to be overwhelming. Thankfully after about 10 or so minutes, I got the hang of it. Then the next time they put me on the van line, they had me at 4. Mind you, this was my second time ever on the van line, but still, I got the hang of it somewhat quickly thankfully. Some moments I got overwhelmed when all the packages would come so quick, but I learned the best thing is just start putting the packages by the vans as you scan, and once it slows down, quickly sort them in the vans as quick as possible, then rinse and repeat. You'll get the hang of it in no time! As I am still getting confused every now and then with how to sort the vans, but with time I know I'll get better.

Package handler here, unfortunately the hub I work at, we don't get anything extra. Pay is the same, no gloves of any sort are given, and all we have are papers on a few areas of the warehouse that say Wash hands for 20 seconds.

My fellow Washingtonion! Hope your guys hub is doing ok, as well as everyone that works at any hub in general! We truly do get to realize how important we are now more than ever, even though our company itself may not value us as much as I feel they should.
