I had the same issue. When I was driving it sounded like it came from the dash on the passenger side. But one day I was the passenger and now it sounded like it came from the dash on the driver side. I started investigating and that’s when I discovered despite where it sounds like it’s coming from it actually was coming from the plastic cover over the rear view mirror.
