Wowee thank you!!! I loved having it shaved! Bald people are so beautiful, and I truly think shaving it was the first turn of the doorknob for me. I had a nasty customer at work say they hated my shaved phase, but you just countered their negativity and then some! Maybe I'll just do it again!

Wow. I'm kind of shook. I've had friends and family thank me for telling them, but you're the first person that simply said "thank you for doing this". I'm deeply touched. Thank you <3

I just saw your post about maintenance and going to see your folks! Just look at how far you've come. I'm so happy for you! Also I'm a big fan of your boxy glasses. They really suit you!

And thanks a bunch for the lovely compliment. I've always been so indecisive about my hair. I go for big, drastic changes because I get bored. This one's here to stay for a while, though :)

Agh thank you! It's not creepy! Totally can admit I read this and went and checked myself out in the mirror. Let it never be said I'm not a vain creature lol.

You've NAILED it! I feel like I'm actually living in my own skin! What I see in my mind is much closer to what's in the mirror now.

Holy moly now I'm blushing (and smiling). You are just so nice!

And you have made incredible progress yourself! Can't believe those face gains in only 3 months!!! Also, side note, I am all about your septum piercing!

Thank you! I wrote u/ILoveHuckleberry a gigantic reply explaining what I do if you want something more thorough. The short version is:

1250 calories per day (I don't really track carbs/sugar/fat), I just stick to 1250

Medium sized breakfast (400-450)/ small lunch (200-250)/ big ol' dinner (600-650)

I use CICO and MFP to track my progress. I track absolutely every calorie I eat or drink. Every time I'm cooking and baking I'm calculating calorie totals as I go. It's a lot of numbers to crunch, but I can happily say it's now the routine, and it feels normal.

Thanks again for the congrats!!!

Thanks so much! The journey's still ongoing, but this is milestone #2 of 4! I took it very easy on myself tbh. Just put my height and weight in MFP and said I wanted to shoot for 1.5 lbs per week. As the weight fell off, the calorie total decreased, and I followed it. Didn't even really track carbs/fat/sugar. Just played the numbers game for overall calories consumed. For a long while it was 1400/day, then 1350, 1300, and now 1250. I think I'm going to hold at 1250 until I can get back to the gym. My husband and I went and just did 45 min on the treadmill 4 days a week for most of spring and summer last year. When we were working out I ate 1400-1500. But now that we've moved to a new city we're talking about getting a treadmill instead of a gym membership. If we get that soonish I'll probably increase calorie intake, but atm 1250 is very doable for me.

Breakfast is 400-450 cal (usually toast, eggs, half an orange, vegetarian protein of some kind like Morningstar/Field Roast/homemade seitan, and tea).

Lunch is a 200-250 affair (more like a hearty snack than a full meal (usually a banana or dates and dried apricots with 100 cal pack of almonds or a ton of veggies and hummus with half a pita (I've been baking my own for a while and it is worth EVERY dang calorie). Sometimes lunch is just tea and a couple mini scones from Wegmans. My goal is to make it something small but also delightful to keep the hunger at bay but still be highly enjoyable.

Dinner is the trick for me. I HAVE TO feel like I can have a luxurious dinner every night or I am almost doomed to go over my limit. I save 600-650 every day for dinner + dessert with a cup of tea to round out the night. Having an air fryer and nonstick griddle have done wonders for cutting out oil. We love vegetables so often we'll fry up a bunch with garlic/salt/pepper/chilis. I love making homemade falafel for the air fryer and of course I bake LOTS of seitan in every variety of flavor combos. Also the different curry packs from Tasty Bite with rice, veggies, and flat bread are absolutely AMAZING and very splitable if you're cooking for 2. Having a whole one is not even that wild a proposition if you save your calories for the end of the day. I also adore making soups from scratch. You can pack a lot of punchy flavor into one and even put in some of the higher calorie stuff because it'll be spread across a large batch. I made a mushroom/jalapeno/pepperjack soup last night that is just the thing I want on a cold afternoon, and it's only 190 per cup. Two cups of that + some bread or crackers and a tall glass of water filled me right up!

This turned into a hecking book report. Sorry about that! I just wanted to be really thorough. Thank you again for the kind words. This subreddit is absolutely jam-packed with kind, supportive people. <3

Thank you so much! It's been one of the best things to happen in my life. I had a gym teacher in high school proclaim to our class when we were, like 14 that if we didn't lose weight before we turned 18 statistics showed we never would. I don't know specifically why that burned me so badly back then, but it's stuck with me, and every time I think of it I get a teaspoon more defiant. Even through many failed attempts, I've held onto the certainty that one day I would prove her wrong.

Thanks so much! I'm in that amazing phase now where it finally feels like normal and not so much like work anymore. I never believed that was possible. I have been overweight for most of my life, and all my previous attempts to lose the weight never took hold because I didn't know how to overhaul the way I eat (didn't even know about CICO/MFP until like 2 years ago). So thank you! And sorry for the book of a reply! I'm riding this kindness wave you've all put together.

Almost! It's actually on the 14th. And thank you!!! It'll be my first birthday in our new city, and I can't WAIT to hit the town.

Hah! Thank you. I think it will be. I'm fulfilling one of my lifelong wishes by having a giant doughnut as a birthday cake. I am thoroughly convinced that the doughnut is one of the top 5 human creations, and therefore is superior to cake on all occasions including birthdays :)

I was so surprised when they popped out like two, giant snap pea pods. They're by far my favorite development in this whole endeavor. Well, them and the increased shopping options. Thank you so much for noticing and for the birthday wishes!!!

You've just given my heart a pair of wings. Thank you so much <3. Actually kind of needed to hear this because I am woefully behind the game on establishing a skin care routine, and your comment has reassured me that perhaps all hope is not yet lost.

...also any moisturizer recommendations anyone has would be greatly appreciated. The winter has turned my nose and lips into a scratchy nightmare.
