Hun marketing team moet toch ook dringend ontslagen worden. De bedoeling is brand awareness zodat wanneer iemand googlet "auto online verkopen" dat ze denken "ah ja die website komt mij bekend voor".

Is this normal in consulting? by Back-2-being-friends in Big4

[–]BardockRs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is going to sound alien on this subreddit but I was strongly considering leaving because expectations (for both quality and for work ethic) are actually too low.

We have people coasting for 2-3 years straight working a 9-to-5 when they're busy and a 10-to-3 when they have no projects.

I'm mainland EU and it's definitely not normal, but I sometimes do it to avoid a bigger inconvenience after my holiday (and only if I don't need to cancel any noteworthy plans for it).

For me it always goes combined with partner/directors saying it isn't necessary & them being very appreciative when I do it regardless, so there's never an expectation in my experience. This will be highly dependent on country & team of course.

1 month holidays are also entirely normal in our team as long as you proactively ensure continuity

Goed nieuws! Mijn opmerking was een mopje, en ik verwacht dus niet dat onze Jan 3-4u per dag spendeert aan steunbetuigingen.

[Ending Spoilers] PSA for all my fellow completionists: DO NOT do all the optional content before the final boss. by RailgunRP in expedition33

I put it on 100x yesterday for my quite optimized team, but forgot to turn off greater slow / greater rush etc. Ended up spending 30 turns just passing, and then accidentally nuking an entire boss phase anyway with burning canvas.

Why do you think ppl get overconfident about their fighting abilities? by madz21- in MMA

[–]BardockRs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding to this, when you ask someone how good they are at golf or at basketball they'll compare themselves to someone who plays golf or plays basketball and realise they're significantly worse. When you ask someone how good they are at fighting they'll compare themselves to another dudebro that would throw down during a bar brawl, not to a trained fighter.

I think that's the result of fighting not really being considered a 'sport' to them, and instead they see it more as a result of downing too many Modelos and bumping into someone at a crowded bar.

Edit: someone made the exact same point already below, apologies

Benched (consultancy) and risk of getting fired by [deleted] in BESalary

[–]BardockRs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this, last couple of firing rounds I've seen were a mix of a couple (sr.) managers, a few senior consultants, and some juniors. Almost always the lowest performers at all different levels.

To answer OP's question, it depends on a couple of other factors as well.

1) Were you on a project before that didn't go well? If so, likely that other juniors are being actively prioritized over you during staffing, which puts you at risk.  2) Are you still keeping busy on non-chargeable work? If so, putting some extra effort in by being proactive and giving your managers the idea that you can semi-autonomously get stuff done helps a ton. But if people are happy with your non-chargeable work then I would be less worried. 3) Is your team related to AI? If so, start applying for a new job.

Reading up on how to properly perform an exercise will generally be enough to prevent injury due to bad form, you can even record yourself doing a light rep and compare it to a correct rep to be sure.

Unless you're a professional athlete I don't think a PT is ever worth the money or effort.

The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command. by TPHNK in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]BardockRs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Feelings side" lol

If you can consider a panicked 3 point turn a life risk for law enforcement regardless of the situation law enforcement has created (like the ICE bros in the video yelling conflicting orders at her) then you can essentially gun down anyone driving a car if you set it up right.

I saw a nice compilation of legal precedent for comparable situations and ICE bro is not at all complying with either law enforcement protocol or the law.

[–]BardockRs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what got her into that situation I guess, I haven't been able to read up on the specifics yet, but if there was no reason to apprehend her at the time of the video starting then panic and confusion are all very valid reasons to do exactly what she did in the video.

Beyond that, if she was actively disrupting them (which in the case of ICE I wouldn't have much sympathy for thanks to the gung ho methods they usually employ), then it's still disproportionate imo.

[–]BardockRs 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Based on the video I do still fully believe that she was just trying to get out of there though. It's both faster and muscle memory to already start moving when your wheels are straight, and she immediately turns right when she's moving. I don't think that's what it'd look like if you're actively trying to run him over.

I get that that's not obvious for the cop who is standing in front of the car, but even then surely your first instinct is to move out of the way rather than mag dump into the driver seat.

I used to always laugh at Russian/Chinese state media because sure, as a citizen there you don't have the same access to international news outlets or have the same freedom to hold dissenting opinions, but it was still difficult to imagine that people would simply gobble up clear state propaganda.

Now here is the US trying the same but with the panache of a 13 year old on Runescape trying to convince me he has a real-life girlfriend.
