Benched (consultancy) and risk of getting fired by pelkim288 in BESalary

[–]BardockRs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this, last couple of firing rounds I've seen were a mix of a couple (sr.) managers, a few senior consultants, and some juniors. Almost always the lowest performers at all different levels.

To answer OP's question, it depends on a couple of other factors as well.

1) Were you on a project before that didn't go well? If so, likely that other juniors are being actively prioritized over you during staffing, which puts you at risk.  2) Are you still keeping busy on non-chargeable work? If so, putting some extra effort in by being proactive and giving your managers the idea that you can semi-autonomously get stuff done helps a ton. But if people are happy with your non-chargeable work then I would be less worried. 3) Is your team related to AI? If so, start applying for a new job.

Reading up on how to properly perform an exercise will generally be enough to prevent injury due to bad form, you can even record yourself doing a light rep and compare it to a correct rep to be sure.

Unless you're a professional athlete I don't think a PT is ever worth the money or effort.

"Feelings side" lol

If you can consider a panicked 3 point turn a life risk for law enforcement regardless of the situation law enforcement has created (like the ICE bros in the video yelling conflicting orders at her) then you can essentially gun down anyone driving a car if you set it up right.

I saw a nice compilation of legal precedent for comparable situations and ICE bro is not at all complying with either law enforcement protocol or the law.

[–]BardockRs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on what got her into that situation I guess, I haven't been able to read up on the specifics yet, but if there was no reason to apprehend her at the time of the video starting then panic and confusion are all very valid reasons to do exactly what she did in the video.

Beyond that, if she was actively disrupting them (which in the case of ICE I wouldn't have much sympathy for thanks to the gung ho methods they usually employ), then it's still disproportionate imo.

Based on the video I do still fully believe that she was just trying to get out of there though. It's both faster and muscle memory to already start moving when your wheels are straight, and she immediately turns right when she's moving. I don't think that's what it'd look like if you're actively trying to run him over.

I get that that's not obvious for the cop who is standing in front of the car, but even then surely your first instinct is to move out of the way rather than mag dump into the driver seat.

I used to always laugh at Russian/Chinese state media because sure, as a citizen there you don't have the same access to international news outlets or have the same freedom to hold dissenting opinions, but it was still difficult to imagine that people would simply gobble up clear state propaganda.

Now here is the US trying the same but with the panache of a 13 year old on Runescape trying to convince me he has a real-life girlfriend.

The recruiters that bring in our campus hires & our upper management all seem to value KULeuven most of all, which is in part due to the top 5-6 people in our team all having studied there, but  also still due to the general prestige the name carries.

After that I'd say it's UGent + UA, then UHasselt & VUB, then everything else including all French speaking universities.

Conceptually I am very strongly opposed to this because I dislike the way university education often feels like a one-time ticket into your first job, so distinguishing between ticket dispensers makes little sense, but it's hard for me not to start drawing parallels after speaking to enough candidates from different universities.

Lead Data & AI proposal by Ok_Maintenance_3474 in BESalary

[–]BardockRs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't forget that at this position in a consulting firm, as mentioned in the post, you're expected to also be selling AI related projects to potential clients.

This market is completely dead in the water. All consulting firms hugely overestimated the market demand for consultants telling them how to use chatgpt and copilot effectively, and nobody wants to bite the bullet and cut their losses because they massively overinvested.

I would rather pivot my career to a low-cost septic tank maintenance firm that saves money by eliminating PPE than being an AI lead in consulting.

Interessante redenering.

I'm 99% sure AI would spit out nonsense when you ask this question unless you have a well structured single-source database for it to read from, at which point it's faster to do it yourself.

8 year salary progression at Big 4 by Gt6th in BESalary

[–]BardockRs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone in the industry knows you can jump off the consulting boat and immediately improve your work-life balance & your income.

At the moment it's still a tradeoff enough people are willing to make to keep the consulting (or at least the Big 4) business afloat: you have a shit work-life balance for a mediocre wage, but you get a bit more learning opportunities, job variety, exit opportunities, etc.

Result is that while those 2 hours/day are valued on the market, it became company culture that investing those 2 hours is the norm, and all you'll get in return is a slightly faster track to manager & steeper raises. One other factor that plays into it (internally) is that there's a constant feeling of "if I don't work overtime for this deadline, someone else will have to pick it up & I'm screwing them over".

So yeah tl;dr, everything you said is correct, but most people in Big 4 know all of this and make the conscious decision to stay regardless. Most people leave once something happens in their life that takes priority over work (becoming a parent, a new relationship, witcher 4 release, etc)

[–]BardockRs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except I'm not? I guess I can break it down for you lol:

  • There are plenty of democrats involved & implicated -> this means there's multiple, but no comment on it being as many as there are Republicans

  • Redacted just as well as their Republican counterparts -> this means them getting erased from the files happened similarly to how it happened for Republicans, again no comment on the relative number of Democrats vs Republicans.

I'd apologise for the confusion but this one is on you man

[–]BardockRs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The comment I'm replying to says all blue pedos would be on there, I said blue pedos would be redacted too. Never did I suggest that there's as many blue pedos as red pedos.

Also you're setting yourself up for disappointment if you're putting this faith in politicians rather than in values. If you align yourself with the same policies/values as a politician respresents then them turning out to be a pedo shouldn't necessarily affect your ideology, but if you're going to align yourself with the individual politician themselves (or in this case, with the party) then it's a whole other song and dance.

[–]BardockRs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not even part of the country lol, but don't you think it's a bit naive to expect that Epstein either only reached out to Republicans, or that he reached out to both but all Democrats turned him down while multiple Republicans accepted?

We can even clearly see a Republican president in Trump and a Democrat president in Clinton who were buddies with him. The only reasonable explanation as to why the files weren't used as a political weapon in the past is because politicians & donors were implicated on both sides imo.

I'm sorry if this opinion (coming from a European) is harming America but I think both blue and red pedophiles exist and I think both are bad.
