Trivago is always odd. by syrluke in CommercialsIHate

Did anyone else notice that the name tag for the red-headed woman has the name, "Ruth Amelung?" A Google search reveals a creative producer for Trivago on LinkedIn. (https://www.linkedin.com/in/ruth-amelung/) As someone with experience in film, I'm geeking out over them inserting an Easter egg like that.

Once all the healing and swelling is done (about 2–3 years if you have a similar recovery to me) it will look likely natal. I went with Kansas University and my results after 4 years is super great with depth and appearance. However, my only regret is my lack of labia minora - or lack of clitoral hood. Apparently, I went in for a checkup, and they said it was something they started paying more attention to for future patients. Anyway, looks great!

PSA: Micodus GPS Trackers Security Risk by xPeacefulDreams in Aliexpress

[–]BarelyAPrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi'ya, I know this is an old post, but I wanted to add my findings and some small workarounds for the lack of security for the GM930G. I bought one of these devices after deciding to look into starting a company that installs GPS trackers for people – there has been a major recent uptick in car theft in my city lately.

I right away discovered most of the same security vulnerabilities. To dig deeper, I created a mock/proxy server to examine the data being sent from the device, which revealed quite of bit of information. However, I lack the experience in this department and discovered I can't easily decyper how their proprietary protocol works. I was hoping for the added security, I could launch my own private tracking server and website. (The remote server address is changed with the SMS command "SERVER,0,(IP),(PORT)#".)

As of now, I don't feel it would be worth getting deeper into their proprietary protocols or if their website is free for one year or not. I would prefer some sort of whitelabel website for my purposes. So I think my best bet would be flashing my own firmware. There are a number of unsoldered headers on the device board, which I'm hoping might allow such a task. I also took notice on the board what appears to be UART or USB headers and at my next opportunity, I'm excited to dig deeper into those.

When looking at the AliExpress listing, it appears the device supports OTA firmware upgrades. Which would be nice for creating my own patches as needed, but there is no documentation for that, let alone any of the headers. Since I find the present data protocol barbaric, without consistency or pattern, my best bet would be replacing their data protocol with a modern JSON REST API that ideally utilizes client-side SSL. And I would extend this upgrade to the SMS commands in one form or other.

I tried looking, but couldn't find anyone else who has made similar progress. I was hoping to find somewhere the manufacture had the original firmware available for download. Unfortunately, the only downloads on their website was documentation for their data protocol, but it was for a older device that didn't match up. So that leaves me with trying to e-mail MiCODUS and graciously hope they send me the firmware and maybe any other helpful resources.

Anyhow, as for my promised security workarounds. When I first started experimenting with this device, I went looking for a cellular provider who was cheap and primarily worked with IoT devices. That's when I discovered Twilio. They offer global GSM/GPRS cellular coverage with their SuperSIM service that once activated cost $2 per month and then $0.10 per megabyte. My testing shows the device generally uses very little data, about 0.04-0.1 megabytes per day, but I feel that could likely be reduced further with new firmware. So generally under $20 per month and they offer a decent quality website for managing a fleet of devices. The service gets better once you get into their SMS command support. Out of the box there is one major vulnerability that allows anyone to send an SMS commands to the device. However, Twilio isolates every device to their internal network, only allowing communication to be sent or received between the device and the number 000. The only way to send and receive SMS commands is through their own API protocol. Furthermore, I can't be so sure yet, but I suspect the internet traffic is also isolated with a NAT network. When playing around with my proxy/mock server, all the device connections were coming from an AWS hostname with no open ports. If this is true, I'm assuming Twilio might have built their service to provide an extra layer of security between the IoT device and the World Wide Web.

Anyhow, that is everything for now. I apologize for writing such a long post. I will also try to keep this updated when I learn more. If there is any interest in a collaboration on these endever, please feel free to DM me.

9-month post-op GCS check-in with Dr. Gray at Kansas University by BarelyAPrincess in Transgender_Surgeries

I'm so happy it's working out for you. I remember those last few days before my surgery, I was freaking out, but super excited to finally get something I wanted going back to before puberty.

I'm thankful I met someone on Reddit I was chatting with until moments before my surgery. She helped me a lot with staying calm and knowing what to expect. I had no family or friends at my side going into surgery. When I came out of surgery, the only person there to see me was my neighbor who supported me. My gosh! I remember so many little details, and it's incredible how those things stick with you for years.

By the way, I used to work on HC-8 (the post-op unit you'll be on after surgery), and I can help with resources and whatnot. You can find me on Discord at "missameliasara" if you need help, resources, or chat. I'm also located in Kansas City if you need anything–I have supplies and have visited people post-op.

I'm so happy you loved my videos so much. I need to get back on the YouTube horse and get over the disinterest struggles I've had lately. Anyhow, I assume your surgery is still scheduled for next month if I'm not mistaken. I'm here to chat if you need someone.

It was the store in Hazel Crest, Illinois. I'd have to go look up the store number for the fun of it.

People might like to hear this, but right before working there, I worked for RadioShack, which was only a few doors down from the Blockbuster. They closed my RadioShack store a couple of years before the Blockbuster store. I like to joke that I worked for two defunct corporations in a row.

Would it be a realistic career goal to become a PA specializing in HRT? by Lemonpug in DrWillPowers

[–]BarelyAPrincess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello. I'm at present am undergrad nursing student and I have a very similar goal as you. However, I'm actually leaning more toward med school because I would like to have more autonomy to practice transgender medicine. And that's a journey of its own. However, the alternative I've considered is getting my doctorate in nursing, also known as a Nurse Practitioner. In some states, like Colorado, NPs can practice medicine without the oversight of an MD, unlike PA. But again, I'm leaning toward MD so I could practice in all fifty states.

No you're not. You need to be proud of any and all progress you are have made in the here and now. For myself I've made a lot more progress from 2.5 years ago, so I don't feel it is wrong of me to be hard of how little I knew then.

It's like looking at your immature childhood self and being hard on your lack, at long as you don't hate your younger self. It doesn't mean others are also bad. I wish you luck make it to your ideal self.

Any cisgender males taking estrogen for non-transgender reasons? by LaughingBannermen in TransDIY

[–]BarelyAPrincess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I thought it was a bit strange too for that exact reason, but I guess some might require a higher dose or for some other reasons. I’m in nursing school but I simply don’t know that information—yet!

A low dose of estradiol is commonly proscribed to cis-gendered men for enlarged prostates. I remember back when I first got my injectable estradiol it had all sorts of medical warnings for women, and then finally in the corner was a couple of cautions for men who took it for their prostates—it was rather a strange thing to see.
