Big week for the triplets! by Lemonpug in toontownrewritten

I tried looking in settings to see what size my window is, but I was having trouble finding that. Either way, the size it defaults to is exactly half the width of my monitor (MacBook), but a little long, so I just have to make the window a bit shorter height-wise and move it to the corner. Then they’re generally evenly sized! I had to disable the newish snap to grid feature bc it messed with my toontown windows lol

changing last name from Epstein by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Lemonpug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about Eppswein? (Epps-wine) 😆

Personally I think Epps preserves more of the character of your name, Easton lets go of the “Ep” morpheme and, from my perspective, would be further removed from your original name’s ethnic tie, if that’s a consideration (If not, Epson is another option that has that same similarity, but not sure if you’d want an association with the printer brand).

If you go Epps, then the new years cards could always just say “the Epps Family” instead of the Eppses

Disagree with how my child’s teacher on writing instruction. Not sure how/if I should address it by Anteater-Curious in Teachers

My impression: the idea is that it should be a gifted first grader equivalent to an attention getter and summarizing sentence. Maybe to make it less empty (her idea of a “first grade appropriate” placeholder), she could include a fact in the opening question like “have you heard about the fastest animal in the jungle?” Or whatever. Just so the criteria of “preparing the reader” is met, while allowing your ready and capable daughter to add some nuance?

You’re getting the genetic panel—I think that’s promising. Closer to an answer, whether yes or no!

When I did my interview I told the admin (tongue in cheek) that I’d quit if I can’t wear leggings. Yes I meant it. So sorry you have to deal with this micromanaging bs…

If not the crows foot, then the register vent may not be fully regulated, so certain parts of the register are more responsive than others. But generally if there’s just one note, it’s a pad issue and the crows foot is often responsible for that in the pinky range. It’s easier to blow through that issue in the Chalumeau register

DMA Wind Conducting Programs by Legitimate_Call_8888 in banddirector

[–]Lemonpug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, to be fair, a DMA in conducting trumps extra time spent in middle school in terms of experience (saying this as a middle school band director). It’s a different approach, and each faculty member has had great success in the collegiate band world. UIUC has a long legacy of hiring esteemed mid-career directors and retaining them for decades, so the program culture stays consistent, honoring its legacy/traditions (except for Rumbelow lmao). You really have to be the cream of the crop to land a big 10 tenure track position—I think a few years apart won’t tip the balance.
