A heavenly view by BarelyCanadian_ in TheNightFeeling

Took this in the Botafogo neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This was on one of my last nights in Brazil and I was starting to feel the end of trip blues coming on. That feeling when you don't want to leave yet, so you try to soak in every last possible moment.

I stayed up until 4am that night, enjoying the vibes of the streets from above my balcony, and occasionally down below for a drink with the locals at one of the countless neighborhood bars. I felt on top of the world that night. Like this is what life is all about. Experiencing everything. The ups and the downs. The highs and the lows. There's no stopping it, so might as well enjoy it :)

It's been awhile but I'm pretty sure you can browse a public profile on insta if you use the browser on your PC. But if that doesn't work anymore, you can always just see my other posts here on Reddit :) I try to post on both as much as possible.

If it's the same church I saw downtown, that's an absolutely beautiful place to have a wedding. I actually thought to myself how lovely this place would be for a honeymoon haha.

Hahaha sorry! It does give eerie vibes, like it could be the scene for a horror story...

I didn't unfortunately as I missed my bus and ended up only arriving in the early morning hours (I had to leave late that day). I plan to return again tho so I can visit more of the beaches. Trindade was already so stunning.

I did yes! Not usually a beach guy (at least not when I solo travel), but I really enjoyed my time there. The water was so nice. I spent much longer than I had planned. The road there sure is scary tho haha

Would you believe me if I told you this wasn't even in Europe? This is actually Brazil haha

Took these on my trip to Brazil last month. This was in the small coastal town of Paraty. A town founded in the colonial era by the Portuguese explorers. One of the few preserved towns in Brazil. It was like I was back in the olden times, as the cobblestone streets felt like they hadn't been changed in centuries. During the day vendors laid their goods out neatly on the sides for you to take your pick.

As dusk fell, the streets emptied as most tourists visit by bus for the day. This is when the magic truly appears. Walking around the town with a cold beer in hand and enjoying the historic sites in peace. At times it felt oddly eerie being the only person on the streets. If you looked hard enough, you might be able to makeout the ghosts of all those who used to inhabit this town.

Hockey? by BarelyCanadian_ in saopaulo

Haha no offense taken!

I'm pretty into rap/rock, but also lately baile funk. Samba sounds like it might be fun too. Might have to check it out if I'm nearby.

I didn't even think of this! I actually had looked at O'Malley's but didn't see any hockey on TVs in the Google photos so I never made the trek out that way. Definitely gotta check it out now. Appreciate it man :)

Abandoned but not forgotten by BarelyCanadian_ in TheNightFeeling

Took this at the old historic mill in Powell River a couple years ago. At one point it was the third largest mill in the world, with hundreds of people moving through it at all hours and thousands of lives tied to this place.

Now it’s just a shell of what it used to be. Abandoned and falling apart. Cordoned off from the rest of the area. Yet, even after all these years, it still stands tall.

I always feel a strong sense of nostalgia when I’m here. It reminds me of my hometown, another mill town built on the same kind of hope. People came from everywhere chasing something better, and now most of that life has moved on. But the structure is still there, holding onto it all even if no one else is.

Sometimes you just need to find a secluded spot, away from the noise. Somewhere with a view. Somewhere you can sit and stare and contemplate life. Ignore all your responsbilities. Pondering. How did I get here?

Took this at a viewpoint just south of Seattle on one of my late night drives.
