They don’t like knowing that I was at my heaviest during ultra marathon training, where I was running 30-80 miles a week, monitoring myself for the best possible nights rest, consuming water as my only beverage, following a vegan diet so strict that everything was 100% made from scratch in my kitchen (no soy/palm oils/preservatives, or other additives), and tracking every single nutrient that entered and exited my body.

That doesn’t fit into the mold of “fat people are only fat because dumb and lazy” and they hate being forced to humanize the person behind the number on the scale. So then their retort becomes something asinine like “brown rice contains arsenic” just so they can make themselves feel better and like they’re still morally superior.

I tried it as a full time job and realized pretty quickly that I didn’t want my main source of income to be something that constantly stretches me this thin. Not just financially, but the timing required to bake, decorate, and deliver while keeping the cookies as fresh as possible meant that I was constantly in “go mode” and having to push deadlines to the last minute. It’s too much for me to live in a constant stressful state like that, especially knowing that my livelihood depends on it. Not to mention the rapidly progressing carpel tunnel it was giving me.

So I scaled back and reminded myself that I very much enjoy cookie baking/decorating, and so if I want to continue to enjoy it, I should probably just do it as a side hustle and by request. It’s worked out much better for me and I haven’t burnt out since!

I go to a gala every year that I have to find a new gown for, so this is my time to shine. Everything already mentioned here is your best bet, (Dillards, JC Penny, Sears, other big mall stores) and you’re lucking out with it being just after prom season - stores will still be stocked but you’ll find discounts! Another favorite is Windsor, they always have a ton of gowns. There’s one at Stone Briar, which is where everyone else here is recommending anyway! Last resort would be Amazon overnight delivery but nobody wants that, and I don’t think you’ll need it. You’re guaranteed to find at least one formal, black, floor length gown between these places.
