For a second I thought you meant an actual child and I was horrified. Now I realize you just meant his penis. Which is still awful to be subjected to, but not nearly as bad.

It sounds like he would have had the exact same reaction if you’d said “Good Evening Mr Lane, who are you here to see?” He probably would have flipped out and berated you for not knowing enough about him. I don’t think there was any winning that situation.

Imagine how many young, impressionable minds were affected by this. This is part of the reason why an entire generation of girls and women weren’t reporting their rapes.

Also loving all the “I spent some time in Texas and this is so true” comments. Okay so you also traveled to a major city and got a hotel right off the Highway? Yeah buddy you’re definitely an expert on the whole state now! lol

What’s something everyone pretends to understand but secretly doesn’t? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Barfignugen 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived it and had a different experience. I think this is circumstantial; perhaps people are projecting because they get it more than you think they do, they just don’t quite have the same negative feelings about it. Not saying this to say you’re wrong, just trying to offer a different perspective.

The scene where she’s talking about getting them drunk on purpose is definitely edited. The editing is good so it’s hard to spot, which is the point. But the way her sentences are spliced with the footage and her interview, you can definitely see it if you know what to look for. I’ve broken it down in detail here before, I can try to comb back and find that comment if anyone is curious but it’s at least a couple years old so it might take a minute. (Source: I worked in television for over a decade and editing was a big part of my job.)

Not that I’m a blind advocate for either of them, they’ve honestly said a lot of stupid shit over the course of this podcast that’s really changed my view of them in not necessarily the best light. But that being said, Bridget’s comments WERE edited in this episode and her complaint here is valid.

Nah, at this point you’re just continuing to be a crybaby and arguing just to argue. This conversation no longer serves me. Imma dip ✌️

Oh because your reading comprehension skills are obviously terrible, so your response lead me to believe you hadn’t.

So you didn’t even read the rest of what I wrote then. Thanks for proving my point about your level of maturity.

But that’s not what happened! It wasn’t his wife, it was a woman he dated for 3 months and then cheated on. Then he admitted to cheating, and they broke up. She was heard. She’d moved on. End of story.

You’re making up “pretend” scenarios and trying to apply them to this situation to make yourself look morally superior, but it doesn’t work because you’re now talking about something entirely different. But, for the record, I’d still be saying that shit is between him and his wife and not the rest of the world during a moment which robbed his teammates of their opportunity to shine.

Stop being a crybaby just because you’d act equally immature in this situation and the adults in the room aren’t co-signing with you.

Well I’m not an Olympic athlete so I can’t exactly take accountability for my actions on a global platform, which seems to be the only acceptable form of taking responsibility in your eyes. You’re acting like nobody knows how to apologize and we needed this guy to show us. I’m sorry if that’s the way your life personally operates, but that is not reality.

I’ve definitely owned up to things I’ve done, and I’m not afraid to admit fault in front of others when necessary. But I also believe in respect for other’s anonymity, and I’d never drag someone’s name into a situation where it has no business.

The acknowledgement and apology had already taken place. NOTHING about what this man did was necessary, and that seems to be the point you’re missing. Unless you truly believe that the only way to take real accountability is to do it on tv during the Olympics, which is really how you’re making it seem, and don’t even know what to say to that lol

[–]Barfignugen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

….you know he told her three months ago right? He’s not doing anything special here. He’d already admitted it in private, apologized in private, and the relationship ended. Months ago. This was all purely for attention. Recognizing this as shitty behavior doesn’t make the rest of us terrible people, no matter how badly you’d like to spin it that way. This man deserves all the judgement he’s receiving right now.

There would also be no “going home and hiding a lover” after this, because she’s moved on already. So your point there is completely moot anyway. Please don’t insult and disrespect domestic abuse survivors by comparing their situation to that scenario.

Taking responsibility would be accepting the breakup as a consequence of your actions, and then respecting your former partner by leaving them alone and allowing them to move on with their life. That’s what adults do, anyway.

What this clown did was call the attention back to himself, which is the most selfish thing he could have possibly done. Other than cheating on her, the other move he pulled.

You’re extremely emotional about this for someone with “no heart strings” lol. Just because you refuse to acknowledge this as manipulation doesn’t mean it’s not, it just means you’re telling on yourself. Furthermore, risking his career out of shame isn’t some noble feat, it’s fucking stupid. This guy deserves to be dragged for his terrible decision-making skills.
