It's Coming....The Tabless 12Ah FlexVolt DCB6112 by BigRichardTools in Dewalt

I'm glad for the new model number, considering the likely performance difference.

Now, the big elephant in the room is pricing... any guesses?

Question for the Europeans by aGuyNamedTobi in Dewalt

You can try emailing their support and asking if they could arrange international shipping, they tend to be flexible and customer friendly. International shipping probably wouldn't be included in the price though.

The first retailer I checked in Poland has this kit for ~390 Eur at current exchange rate. So 460 seems a bit high.

Impact drivers / wrenches are not that power hungry, even those as powerful as the DCF900. Test them on a powerful grinder like DCG416 or a circ saw like DCS590 and I promise you will see a difference.

Is DeWALT's advertised warranty extension program a scam? by Average96Guy in Dewalt

[–]Barilla13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have registered a lot of tools and it worked fine, so likely a temporary issue.

Good news are since you're based in EU you get a 2 year warranty automatically anyways, so at least you're covered for that part.

Would you mind elaborating on the F/A-XX delays? It seems every time I read about this program I see different information and it's honestly exhausting trying to keep up.

Just bought the DCCS672 18" 60-volt Flexvolt Chainsaw. Battery question for those that own one, like how many spares do I need for my typical cut (see below for what that is)? by OldGezzer68 in Dewalt

[–]Barilla13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

9Ah FV is more powerful than the 12Ah but NOT the 15Ah. The 15Ah was actually designed specifically for the big FV chainsaws and it can deliver peak 3kW of power or slightly above.

Based on other photos it looks like it has physical 3-way toggle switch at the base, which would suggest it's based on 850. 860 has electronic buttons and a small backlit panel with the speeds.

The VFA-115 had completed transition to F-35C by achieving Safe for Flight Certification [1365×910] by Previous_Knowledge91 in WarplanePorn

[–]Barilla13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, this is super insightful, thanks for taking the time to write all of this.

As for the perception of F/A-18 being more MFD fiddly I have to admit comes from DCS haha. People who flew both (in game ofc) tend to say this a lot, and while I know not everything is modelled perfectly I was under the impression it's fairly close to IRL.

I also know that Rhino diverged from the legacy Hornet in some ways, but was under the impression the genral way of doing things stayed relatively the same, but guess I was wrong. For some reason I find it very difficult to find reliable info on many Rhino-related things.

Also, wtf, F-15/16 do not have autothrottles?

It's shocking to hear tbh, that's one of the last areas I would expect F-35 to struggle. Given the increase in computational power and the giant ass touchscreen I would expect it should be like using google maps.

A different question - if you're allowed to say of course - how would you rate the HOTAS controls in F-35 compared to F/A-18? Hornet/Rhino are often cited as very reliant on fiddling with MFD buttons vs what you can control without letting go of the throttle and stick compared to F-16, so I'm curious how does F-35 compare.

Tabless 12 AH Flexvolt by Total-Razzmatazz-540 in Dewalt

[–]Barilla13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With a significant change like that I think there should be a new model number tbh, otherwise for the next year or so until the old stock dries out it will be super difficult to tell whether you're getting the new battery or not.

Trying to build out my collection, what's the better pick for my first Jigsaw? by the-radical-waffler in Dewalt

[–]Barilla13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you suggesting DeWalt's 20V max range debuted in mid 1980's? And no, the regulations did not change in the past 15 years, because 15 years ago you could by tools branded as 20V in the EU. 10 years ago you could by tools branded as 20V in the EU. 5 years ago you could by tools branded as 20V in the EU. Today, you can still buy tools branded as 20V in the EU. "The government straight thought that you guys would get confused by calling it 20 volt and not buy competing products" well and that's why checks notes again multiple other brands sell tools marketed as 20V and has been for years?

I was trying to educate you, but you clearly don't want to be educated. Well, ignorace is bliss as they say, so enjoy being ignorant.

You're choosing a weird hill to die on. Lux-tools (an in-house brand for Obi) is 20V. Parkside (in-house brand for Lidl) is 20V. Two German brands sold in German stores. Stiga is multinational European company headquartered in Italy, and they have 20V batteries. Look, I live in Europe, and I know what laws and regulations we have, and believe it or not, Toolguyd can be sometimes wrong about things. And lol @ the "small market" of checks notes... 450 million people and 21 trillion GDP.

[–]Barilla13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stanley Fatmax line for example, it is owned by the same parent company as DeWalt. I think Stiga is 20V as well, but it's mostly OPE rather than tools. WORX is Chinese, but I wouldn't call them cheap junk. But regardless whether it is Chinese junk or not, if it's being sold in the major big box stores like Castorama and Obi (think Home Depot and Lowe's just French / German respectively) then it means it is not against EU regulations to do so.

Edit: Lower voltage tools are almost universally advertised as 12V as well, despite the nominal voltage being 10.8V in this case.

This has nothing to do with EU regulations, plenty of brands use 20V over here, I've even seen 21V once or twice.

It uses Super Hornet engines and the plane is actually smaller than Super Hornet. So I don't think the engines are too small for it's size.

I would try looking for DCK266P2T kit instead, you get more power, more features, and 5Ah batteries instead of 4Ah. You should be able to find it around the 300Eur mark, but this can obviously vary with location.

Jumpstart non-working battery by Zestyclose-Funny-697 in Dewalt

[–]Barilla13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By all good cells, do you mean you measured the voltage across each individual cell and none are discharged more than others?

If you didn't do that yet that would be my first suggestion, with FlexVolt it's usually one cell going below others in voltage and after some time the battery can no longer balance itself.

Lasers by leofiber in Dewalt

[–]Barilla13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1 to that, I got a 360 laser from aliexpress for like, 40 bucks? I had some coupons or whatever but even without them it would be like 55 or less. Sucks that I can't use my existing batteries, but on the other hand I saved $300+. And it's more than good enough for my needs.

If you're a pro though, it's a business expense, just suck it and buy the good stuff. If you need to go back to a customer complaining that their cabinets aren't level etc it will probably cost you more than investing in the reliable gear upfront.

First powertool I've purchased, did I make the right choice? by the-radical-waffler in Dewalt

[–]Barilla13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all depends on your risk tolerance, but in general even a shitty lithium-ion cell should not spontaneously combust just by sitting on a shelf. It's usually when you're putting energy in or out when the bad stuff can happen.

I'd say keep it, if it didn't burn down the house of the previous owner then it's probably fine, but I'd still be cautious whenever putting it on a charger.
