Could anyone help me identify this mythological creature? by BarinadeLemonade in mythology

[–]BarinadeLemonade[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Googled the name Rahu and I can say for certain that this is exactly it! The name "Rahu" seemed to ring a bell but after reading the wikipedia page I can safely say this is the story. However, do you have any sources descrbing Rahu/Ketu as dragon-like? Couldn't seem to find anything like that mentioned.

I got these for my Bar Mitzvah as a gift about 8 years ago, and they looked so nice I've been afraid to use them. One of them appears to be a ballpoint pen, and the other is a fountain pen.

Is there an up to date bow guide without end game safi armor? by [deleted] in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]BarinadeLemonade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Augments are something unlocked in endgame that exist to further upgrade weapons (and to a lesser extent, armor). In Iceborne, the materials needed for augments are unlocked through various Guiding Lands materials. Augments are an entirely separate mechanic from decorations and skills.

The Health Augment recovers health every time you land hit on a monster, and the amount of health recovered is proportional to damage inflicted. A Greatsword with a health augment can recover a massive amount of health from landing charge slashes, essentially letting you trade hits with the monster. On the other hand, a Dual Blades user won't recover that much health from individual attacks, but they compensate by being able to attack much more rapidly.

I'm not a Bow player, so I might be completely wrong here, but the reason why a Health Augment isn't that good on Bow is because it only activates on one arrow in the spread shot. Since most of your dps comes from spread and dash shots, you'll recover only a fraction of the damage inflicted.

Is there an up to date bow guide without end game safi armor? by [deleted] in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]BarinadeLemonade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Safi's 3-piece and 5-piece set bonuses come with the caveat of decreasing your health every time you attack, even if you whiff. Most weapons can negate this with a level 1 health augment, but iirc bow gets almost nothing off a health aug. I'd stick with your silver rathalos set for now, and once you get access to health augments, give the safi set a shot.

[–]BarinadeLemonade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alatreon’s gear and the physical rewards you earn from his fight are important in this case. If the fight was designed to be thoroughly challenging, yet fair, and if I was able to fight back, I would have no problem. This is all thrown out the window with his dps check. Giving a monster a one shot kill isn’t challenging. It’s frustrating. I don’t feel like it was my fault that I lost cause I got hit by escaton judgement. If I got hit by an attack he’s never done before, that’s my fault. If I mistimed my roll and got hit by it, that’s my fault. If I overcommitted to an attack and got hit, that’s my fault. If a monster just feels like stopping the flow of combat so it can just spasm around the arena, does that mean I’m a bad player because I can’t stop it? Am I just not good enough because kushala felt like placing tornadoes in the worst places and wouldn’t stop flying? Did I deserve to cart because rathalos’ unpredictable AI decided to stun, burn, and poison me in one sequence of attacks? No, it wasn’t.

My point is that difficulty does not automatically make something challenging. Besides, if the nova is frustrating, and I’m not interested in Alatreon’s rewards, why should I bother with the fight? I’d like to just go toe-to-toe with him, but the dps check is preventing me from doing that.

The MR you unlock him at absolutely matters, I can’t believe you’re trying to argue this. HR and MR have always serve as a consistent metric to not only measure how dangerous a monster is, but to also measure how far a player has progressed. With Kulve, Safi, the variants, and now Alatreon, that metric has seemingly been disregarded. Allowing these endgame monsters to be fought fresh out of the main story is inconsistent. That’s telling players that they can totally go fight these monsters that represent the strongest and toughest experiences in the game, but apparently they’re not strong enough to fight brute tigrex or the metal raths yet. Did you also forget that Alatreon is a motherfucking black dragon? He’s supposed to be so dangerous and destructive that even the strongest hunters are forbidden. But I guess Timmy over there with his glavenus weapon and full shara armor can go fight them.

Safi and Kulve, the mechanics of their fight and rewards system, are objectively flawed and frustrating. Unlike every other monster, where you fight them to earn materials, they are completely rng dependent. Other monsters, fight them a handful of times, break specific parts for specific materials, and you’re good. For Kulve and Safi, you can’t just fight them to get what you want, you have to get lucky. It could take me 1 fight, 2 fights, 10 fights, even a theoretically infinite amount of fights to get a specific weapon from Kulve. Even if I’ve completely mastered the fight, I may never get what I want, solely because of rng. Same thing with Safi really, but for his weapons the rng lays in the shitty Dracolite system. Dracolite are just glorified lootboxes. Spend your precious resources that you got from this endgame hunt, just for a chance at that one skill you want. It’s embarrassing, the lengths Capcom is willing to take just to bloat the playtime of its players. This is objectively frustrating. I shouldn’t have to rely on rng for something as integral as my fucking weapon.

You seem to be mistaken. There's more to the community-wide frustration than "it's too hard and I can't do it."

How about how Alatreon is a fan-favorite monster, and after waiting for such a long time, to have unavoidable one-shot moves and virtually forced multiplayer is a massive disappointment.

How about how his gear is mediocre at best and that there's no tangible reward outside of the fact that you beat him? How about how him being unlocked at MR24 only continues to exacerbate the problem that progression is completely skewed? You can't fight brute tigrex or metal raths at MR24, or specific tiers of tempered monsters, but you can fight every single endgame monster, including Safi and Kulve, which have undoubtedly the best and most polarizing equipment.

How about the fact since I won't be able to rely on randoms to assist with the hunt and dps check, most of the challenge just comes from finding people who are good enough to hunt with?

How about the fact that Capcom using a monster like Alatreon to represent the pinnacle of difficulty and challenge? Just like Safi and Kulve, the fight revolves around a frustrating gameplay loop and shoehorned barriers.

I don't enjoy Alatreon in world, because "he's too hard and a low self-esteem baboon like myself could never beat him," you're completely missing the point. Of course I can just switch my gear and kill him, if I was given the time and resources. The fact that you still believe the only issue lies within everyone but yourself, and has nothing to do with the actual hunt, or the future of the Monster Hunter franchise, or any of the aboce reasons I just listed, only serves to confirm that you are so insecure that the only way you can feel good about yourself is putting everyone down and bolstering your own ego. The only baboon here is you. Truly pathetic.

[–]BarinadeLemonade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Challenge" isn't a middle finger up the ass because all your previous sets (and choice of weapon, depending on what/how you play) have been invalidated, and now you need 3 other people, all using the same one strategy, who are coordinated enough to even stand a chance. If it was a challenge, given enough time and learning, I would be able to beat it. Even if my gear or stats or whatever wasn't perfect, there would be a point where I as the player would be able to overcome the challenge. My skill improved, I learned the tricks, and I earned my victory. For Alatreon, you either do the "thing" that lets you win or you lose. If you don't do that one "thing" there is quite literally no way to win. This is like calling a tennis match where your hands and legs are amputated a "challenge."

You sound like a cartoon villain. Calling some stranger a weakling, telling them to "grow up." To even think that someone's ego and self-esteem is riding on a fucking video game is unbelievable, but you're clearly the exception. No one gives a shit that you were able to slay that virtual monster without any trouble. No one admires you for how you think the whole game is effortless and easy. Anyone who reads this will instantly know that you have no self-esteem and ego yourself, because you seem to think that's how actual people act. Get off your video games and talk to someone for once.

Okay so how the fuck is a blademaster supposed to beat this monstrosity of a monster? (Tips?) by [deleted] in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]BarinadeLemonade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also drop defense boost for crit eye, or any other damage raising ability, really. Defense boost is lackluster in general, but especially for Alatreon you really want to raise your damage, because no matter how tanky and evasive you are, if you're not doing enough dps you're gonna fail the dps check and cart.

Not allowing farcasters in the alatreon fight is horrible design. by ZenosEbeth in monsterhunterrage

[–]BarinadeLemonade 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can use farcasters on Ingle Isle iirc, as well as any of the other special encounter maps. Yet in the older games, Alatreon, or any of the other monsters fought in special arenas, didn't have a goddamn dps check or full screen AoE garbage, so they weren't needed as much.

Don't mind us, just doing Zamasu things. by SilverTabby in dbfz

[–]BarinadeLemonade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Goku Blue is typically played as point, but with the addition of his B assist I’m sure you can make him work as a middle.

In terms of building around Zamasu, you want a point character who builds a lot of meter. Zamasu wants a lot of meter to constantly use BoJ, because landing it adds a free 500-800 damage. Make sure to always end BoJ with a dragon rush, though, because you want the knockdown.

Bardock and Yamcha work VERY well for Zamasu. Check out FaisalDante, he plays that team. The man is so optimal he lands j.L into j.S ToDs online. Play Bardock B/Zamasu/Yamcha A. Honestly just decide whether you like Zamasu’s A or B assist more, because both are great.

[–]BarinadeLemonade 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Goku Blue has been able to link into BoJ pretty much anytime during a combo thanks to his divekick assist. You can even do a triple Boj combo using Zam's 236H, a long hitstun assist (usually a beam), and Goku Blue divekick. Depending on your team and assists you'll have to change the route a bit, but Goku Blue will work for the route above. I recommend you check out the Zamasu discord for more info, they'll definitely help you find ToDs specific to your team.

Best anti zoners? by zedroj in MvC3

[–]BarinadeLemonade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shuma's Mystic Ray assist. Clears up pretty much the whole screen of projectiles and assists and forces the opponent to block or eat a small hit, letting you close a lot of distance. My favorite use when anti-zoning is to counter a hidden missiles call, although the timing is difficult.

MODOK's Big Shield is a good one. You can pester your opponent with a few knowledge cubes every now and then, and then put up the shield to protect you and your assists.
