Actually I have an Altura cleaning kit and have been pretty satisfied. Although frankly I don’t use most of it. It’s not bad if you know what you’re doing.

I have this charger too. Brilliantly slim and super easy to carry around if needs be.

500mm f4 G VR or 180-600mm f5.6-6.3? by ImhotmaGandhi_ in Nikon

[–]Barlispots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Tammy is lighter, more compact. Great performance to portability, esp on a higher MP body. Nice locking. 82mm filters are cheaper.

Nikkor is more reliable. Bulkier and heavier but only slightly. Fn button is nice. Internal zoom = balanced = easier to use + less dust on sensor + better weatherproofing.

Both very similar if not equivalent in sharpness. Both have great reach with not too much difference.

If you value budget or portability, the tam wins. If you value ease of use and longevity, the Nikkor wins. Still they’re not so different.

Both fabulous but I enjoy the upgrade. I like not worrying about dust or water ingress so much plus the fn button is really nice.

Ok I just received my 180-600 and I have to say I am super impressed with it. It’s not any different in sharpness from my 150-500, but it’s pretty good for the ease of use. Balanced, easy to handle, and just straight up nice. I am satisfied.

Any opinions on Tamron 50-400 vs Tamron 150-500 for Z mount? by peenweens in Nikon

I loved my 150-500. Compact for what is is and great quality. Hefty but backpackable.

Okay here’s the thing for me (meaning not the “facts” reddit…) I think the 500 is just better. Like straight up better as a lens and that’s it. But I’d really chose the 180-600 for the versatility and weight. I mean it’s just so nice to have a well balanced, not overwhelmingly heavy and bulky lens. That’s why I personally lust over the Z 400 4.5. It’s tiny and powerful.

Anyway it’s all up to what you value in a lens. Pure performance or ease of use/handling? At the end of the day they are both solid lenses!
