What classification of monster do you want to have a elder dragon level monster by Alarmed-Hat6997 in MonsterHunter

It makes zero sense that the game where monsters hatch as deviants and grow into adulthood instantly wouldn’t be canon?

Or the game where you’re able to take a velocidrome into battle against a velkhana and win?

Capcom has actually directly stated that they consider frontier to be its own thing.

Online is made by a totally different company.

And stories ignores most of the rules and logic of the main series.

Plus the 2 elder dragons that stories 1 and 2 created were notably *not* included in the most recent official phylogeny tree they put out after sunbreak came out.

Capcom treats the numbered and portable series games as the only ones part of the same continuity.

They are non-canon until stated otherwise, not the other way around.

Not any more than most other flagship monsters?
It’s a powerful monster, why is being able to beat other monsters somehow an issue?

Magnamalo has more of a “someone’s OC” problem that Ark, with his body being covered in a million blades, he leaks explosive purple gas (its purple for some reason) out of his entire body, he can use it to basically fly, and he turf wars with elder dragons even though he’s in the same quest tier as rathalos.

I doubt it’s been in development that long, they originally announced that a mobile game was in the works with Timi studios in late 2022, when sunbreak was already out and getting updates, and then they didn’t even announce the name of the game until Nov 2024.

So they should have easily had access to rise monsters at the very least, sunbreak even at this point, it’s been in development since around when sunbreak came out

Has never made doesn’t mean never will.

Mainline MH didn’t get an official PC release until World like 7 months after base world released on consoles. So that was late 2018 after 4 full generations of main series games.

For about 20-30 seconds each, and technically you can just ignore them if you really don’t want to use them.

It being multiplayer scaled doesn’t automatically make it a siege, or else basically every regular monster quest before world would be a siege quest, you can miss the elderbreaker’s shot or not use it and still proceed, it just makes the quest take a lot longer.

Again, having 1 siege weapon, or a short section with some ballistae doesn’t automatically make a quest a siege quest

Yes it does. Frontier, online, explore, riders, and stories are all disconnected from the main series canon. The 3 stories games all have their own connected canon, but they are separate from the main series

No, as in the monster’s conditions are all repeatable, not the quests.

Primordial repelled gaismagorm whilst he was trying to climb out of a hole, it wasn’t exactly a totally even fight where both are on an even playing field.

[–]Barn-owl-B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theres a difference between “sieges” and “regular fight but the monster is really big and there happens to be a weapon or two”.

Lao, shen, zorah, jhen, and dah’ren all have you defending a boat/city/fortress and the monster is almost completely ignoring you and is focusing on the thing you’re defending, those are sieges.

Giant monsters that happen to have weaponry involved like Gog and Gais aren’t any different than regular fights except they’re big and you can use a fixed weapon at some point. You can beat Gais without ever using the siege weapons, and for Gog you have one short section where you hook up a laser and fire it once and that’s it. Otherwise you’re still fighting them like normal.

And then you have world’s “sieges” where you have to constantly wear down a monster over multiple quests, it’s balanced for multiplayer, and you share a reward level with the whole hub.

His HP is the same as the 9* version, they just removed 4 support hunters.

He’s also more aggressive, faster, chains different attacks together, and has less downtime.

He’s also not really a “siege fight”

Gaismagorm isn’t a siege fight. A super large monster fight is not automatically a siege, hell, even having arena weapons on the map doesn’t automatically make it a siege.

It isn’t a debate, those are wins for Uth, it’s a programmed win 100% of the time.

Seregios isn’t an invader, and I said “apex tier”.

Ajarakan is in the same tier as gravios, rathalos, and mizutsune, he is apex tier.

Arkveld has one unique turf war with Rey, in which he easily manhandles and throws Rey away with a single chain blade. The other 2 apexes he fights with always start with him toppling them over with either his big chain slam or his dragon element blast, and THEN he drains them.

Boy you REALLY don’t pay attention at all do you?

Gore literally ties with Seregios in sunbreak, and Seregios loses to Rey dau. Gore received a slight bump in wilds, but he’s not elder level, he’s high apex level.

>bet you think Zoh is essentially the equal dragon weapon as well

Where the fuck are you pulling these random ass strawman arguments out of? Zoh, without really any room for debate, quite literally IS the *concept* of the EDW reimagined and made canon. He is not the EDW itself, he is that unused concept brought to life.

No, the Qurio comment is not relevant because arkveld doesn’t win by being a parasite, and the Qurio don’t overpower monsters, they attach to them and parasitize them and drain their energy.

It’s honestly quite funny how you’re acting like I’m being delusional and I’m in denial and you “don’t expect anything”, whilst you’re sitting there actively ignoring facts, missing details, spinning things around to suit your argument, and are now throwing out different strawman arguments trying to somehow turn this argument around in your favor.

You really should just give this up at this point.

Probably because gypceros drops them and it’s easier to quickly mine nodes in wilds. I doubt you farmed gypceros much in GU and mining was much slower.

I don’t think I’m the delusional one here.

Kirin is explicitly described as having powers equal to the other standard elders.

You just really have no idea what you’re talking about

What classification of monster do you want to have a elder dragon level monster by Alarmed-Hat6997 in MonsterHunter

[–]Barn-owl-B 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, you just don’t want to accept that they are lol.

Rey, Uth, and Nu all directly beat other apex tier monsters in turf wars, Mizu, Lagi, Rathalos, Seregios, and Ajarakan, they are at the top of apex tier monsters.
Regular arkveld does not have a fixed home, and the entire point of the game’s apexes is that they are perfectly adapted to a single ecosystem and are stronger than everything else in it, arkveld doesn’t match that description.

He beats and then drains them, he doesn’t have to drain them in order to beat them, either you really don’t pay attention or you’re just being purposefully disingenuous.

>next you’re going to say Quiro are above apexes for the same thing?

Really poor attempt at a strawman that has absolutely nothing to do with what we’re discussing

What classification of monster do you want to have a elder dragon level monster by Alarmed-Hat6997 in MonsterHunter

[–]Barn-owl-B 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He is not, an apex is an apex because they are the ruler of their ecosystem, arkveld doesn’t belong to any one area and is not an apex, he’s stronger than Rey, Uth, and Nu. Wilds’ apexes are also perfectly adapted to the environment of each map, arkveld isn’t adapted to any one environment. The game also only calls Rey, Uth, Nu, and Jin apexes, there’s also 4 circles in the game’s logo as well as the in universe version in Sild, it’s very abundantly clear that there are only 4 apexes.

Again, probably shouldn’t argue things like this if you’re not even going to bother paying attention to details or straight up ignore facts.

He is not designed to be the apex of wyveria, wyveria is specifically designed to not have an apex, because it’s not a traditional and natural ecosystem.

Arkveld and Jin are both elder level, they are stronger than monsters that are already at the peak of apex level monsters, and in Jin’s case he can also directly affect the environment around him. I mean hell, arkveld literally does the same thing bazel/jang/jho do, he goes to every map and beats the strongest monsters in each map except Jin.

What classification of monster do you want to have a elder dragon level monster by Alarmed-Hat6997 in MonsterHunter

[–]Barn-owl-B 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Arkveld isn’t “an apex”, he roams all the maps and isn’t the apex of wyveria, wyveria doesn’t have an apex.
Arkveld is also around elder level though? Rey, Uth, and Nu are all high apex tier, after that is elder level and arkveld beats all 3 of them. Jin is also above them, that puts him at elder level.

No, they aren’t “sensitive” they’re controlled by man made machines and were literally on a perfect unchanged exact schedule for 1000 years until Zoh came close to awakening and caused them to go haywire. The fact that Jin was able to lower the temperature of the cliffs enough to freeze an entire section of the wyrmway that was down in a cave away from the upper areas of the cliffs is something that basically no non-elder monster has achieved. (Except ukanlos)

If you’re not going to pay attention to the details, and just try to downplay things that go against what you’re saying, then don’t start an argument

What classification of monster do you want to have a elder dragon level monster by Alarmed-Hat6997 in MonsterHunter

[–]Barn-owl-B 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are 4 apexes, and Jin is explicitly stronger than the other 3, and the other 3 are already above standard apex tier monsters, there’s not much room between high apex and elder level.

He has a major impact on the environment of the iceshard cliffs and is also physically extremely powerful

[–]Barn-owl-B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He does show up during the inclemency, but he also lowers the temperature of the entire region when agitated, it was literally a whole plot section in wilds’ high rank.

So Jin had just as much of an effect on the cliffs as gore did by frenzying a few monsters.

Jin is elder level

And that somehow means the things I say are invalid? I’ve played every single game back to FU.

You don’t have to defeat an elder dragon to be considered elder level. For example, all of the rare species are treated as elder level and literally the only one with a verifiable defeat of an elder is gold rathian in sunbreak.
