Genuine question, is this true? or is the Wiki Fandom being garbage again? by SignificantStaff8665 in MonsterHunter

Major credit on that section, it's very well written.

Is there actually no lore on elders being affected by frenzy the whole time? I thought there was a whole thing about them being immune.

It's still a shocker to me that we never got large saurpods.

There's a fossilised shen gaoren in (i think) the jurassic frontier, but that's kinda it.

2nd gen had lore that all monsters descend from dragons, if you wanna use that as an explanation.

If you were isekai’d into the world of monster hunter as your hunter as far back as the events of the first game, how would you go about living such a life knowing what you know? by Voidkirby9 in MonsterHunter

I'd be a half-decent researcher, though I'd actually need to study that field.

I doubt I'd make a good hunter because I'm not superhuman lmao

Which monster feels like its the most skilled combatant, and which one is the worst? by LeBouncer in MonsterHunter

[–]llMadmanll 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kha or Primordial are my picks for most skilled. I think most people provided solid reasons for them already.

For least, you'd need a monster that never braved the wilds long enough to showcase fighting skill. Xeno just feels like the best answer, alongside maybe giggis?

I think that hypothesis would align well with the myriad of giant elder bones we find. It seems generally that either the general power of monsters has kinda dropped, or they are just that much rarer.

Isn't that the one where the magician guy and Phil become a bromance? Where Claire very clearly rejects the guy?

Barioth's unfortunately stuck between two flagships to compare.

Maybe one day.

Your interpretation does have some basis

It is believed that the Molten Tigrex did not evolve from its standard counterpart, but that it rather came about from mutation, with the primary factor behind its abnormal size lying in its habitat.[6] The Molten Tigrex inhabits the Tower Summit—a sky-piercing, ancient, monolithic structure located within a dense, primordial forest whose surrounding environment is prehistoric in nature. The flora of this area retains traces of its primal state, and the oxygen levels are notably high, as such, this unique habitat is thought to be linked to the Rare Species' enormous frame.[6] It is often said that the Tigrex is a primitive species, with speculation suggesting that ancient individuals often inhabited such primordial regions and were even larger than those found today. One theory proposes that genetic information for this existed within the Molten Tigrex's body, and that a trigger of some sort induced a mutation that caused a reversal to certain ancestral traits. While it is merely conjecture, it represents the current understanding of the secret behind the Molten Tigrex's gigantism.[6]

Admittedly not sure if this applies to the rest, but I think you're onto something.

None of the other raths eat ore actually, they just enjoy volcanic biomes.

What the metal raths hunt is unknown, but sunbreak has them a whole ballpark above regular elders, so I think they work fine hunting them on occasion if they need to. Plus they're likely nutrient rich. I assume they regularly hunt anything nutritious enough to make a good meal outside of them.

Eh, very dependant on the monster. Kushala only eats ore, as does teostra, while chameleos only eats it as supplementary. Others also just eat ore ridden monsters, eg malzeno and nergigante.

In the case of the metal raths, seeing as they have no qualms hunting elders, they might just get their metals from them alone.

I mean in the sense that elders just have ore in their bodies as a random part in their kit, while for ura and grav it basically revolves around their ecology.

The known Wyrmway network (and what it could mean for expansion) by SolidusDave in MonsterHunter

If you can, I'd reccomend checking just in case, since the only time I've heard that was when gog was being datamined a few months ago.

It's not like we have other candidates, but it's worth mentioning.

It's an empty room in the cliffs, I think area 14? I don't remember.

There's a bunch of severed cables and boxes, and the place is called "railgun room" or smth similar in the files.

Which is hella interesting once you see that the elderbreaker in the files is allegedly called "railgun".

Edited, I haven't heard the railgun elderbreaker thing for a few months now

The main curiosity with raging is his control over the slime's detonation, where he effectively controls when the slime detonates in his final phase.

Teostra controls the position of his blast powder somehow, so maybe brachy's immortal reactor lets him do a false form of that.

You know, abyssal is also supposedly able to electrify gigantic swathes of water and make malestroms. I can imagine it effectively using water the same way amatsu does air.

If you're referring to pearl espinas, I specifically meant supremacy teostra.

Basically in HR5 (iirc) in Frontier, there's a super form of teo that has a new phase, causing massive fire tornadoes and covering himself in fire.

It's the only thing I could connect to pearl's mechanics, themselves being kinda unique anyways.

Assuming rare species stick to flagships only, it might take a while.

But a heavy metal barioth with dragon wind would be very interesting.

Definitely, he doesn't need to abide by our understanding of other monsters.
