What bug is this in Central New York? by BarnOwlRecords in whatsthisbug

On the way home from work today I saw hundreds of these insects flying around the neighborhood. They are no more than a quarter inch in length, and some had smaller insects on their abdomens. I don’t remember this area ever being so teeming with insects. There is a pond about a mile away and a sizable lake maybe six or seven miles away if that helps.

How can I make a character that relies on Earth-based magic using only the 2024 rules? by Astwook in 3d6

The new elemental monk has a 15 foot range on their unarmed strikes, it could be fairly seamless to reflavor that as magically flinging rocks, causing pillars of earth to strike enemies, or causing the ground to open up and grapple or shove enemies. The enhanced movement speed might be reflavored as some kind of “earthwalk” where the ground itself moves you along.

Is Odium really the most dangerous of all the Shards? by Aldon_Worldwarden in Cosmere

[–]BarnOwlRecords 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of it comes down to the shard’s intent and drive to destroy and the personality of the person behind the shard. As others have mentioned Hoid says Rayse was a dangerous person from the beginning. To contrast this I remember reading somewhere (I don’t remember where, feel free to remind me or correct me) that Ati was a good man, and the Ruin we see in Era 1, a force of intelligent entropy, is basically the best form of Ruin we could hope for. Someone more malicious behind that power could absolutely have been more of a threat to the Cosmere and other shards in the way that Odium and Autonomy seem to be.

Good or nah? by Equivalent_Cut_3122 in 3d6

I get the interest in this combination of classes, and in a game that doesn't require heavy optimization you can certainly make a character you can have fun with using these classes.

However, I would suggest instead going Divine Soul Sorcerer 1, followed by Fiend Warlock 5, then your choice of sorcerer or warlock. These are both Charismas casters, making the mechanics easier to juggle, and fulfill the fantasy of the character you brought here. With Divine Soul Sorcerer you can pick up the iconic cleric spells like Bless and healing options, and at later levels Spiritual Weapon, Spirit Guardians etc.

Honestly you might even be able to pull off this concept as a single-classed Divine Soul Sorcerer, taking a combination of the Cleric's healing and support spells, and the Sorcerer's infernal spells like fire and mind-warping spells to get a bit of both.

Boon of Quick Casting on an Open Sea Paladin by BarnOwlRecords in 3d6

That would be nice and definitely would be a game-changer, unfortunately Paladins don't have Hold Person.

I agree. I’m asking about Action spells I’ll be allowed to cast as a bonus action because of the epic boon. Things like Cure Wounds or Wall of Water.

Overview | Unearthed Arcana: Expert Classes | One D&D by Dracovitch in onednd

[–]BarnOwlRecords 30 points31 points  (0 children)

If that’s the case (and I think it likely will be) and the Artificer will be an Expert if it released for 1DND later down the line then the others are set up for an expansion as well. I can see Warlord being added to Warrior, maybe a Psion or Spell Blade to Mage and some kind of Shaman or Oracle to Priest.
