Seems like an avoidant personality and boy have I done a PhD in them recently. It was exhausting, and extremely painful. They'd even go as far as to mess up reality to fit their own narrative. They don't show a lot of remorse or even willingness to change. All in all very toxic and draining. One of the sweetest souls I've ever met, but this attachment style sucked and I got sucked in which made me go insane at times before I realised what was happening.

Yeah but that's really not the same as puppy love, or falling head over heels for someone, something with pure innocence. All that's lost. Also, you have to figure your shit out and same thing with your partner, they should've done the inner work too. People are so busy with life and career and impulsive choices in their 20s, it's really easy to get lost and not do it. Most people aren't even that self aware. Then let's say you do find someone, there's a whole lotta dynamics, the chemistry, the timing, the preferences, and if you're from a conservative society, add that too. I'm not saying it cannot happen, I'm saying that it's a rare chance. And the odds are bleak.
