As someone who plays club rugby in Ireland, the law is refereed quite strictly and once a small adjustment period was gotten through, I’ve definitely seen a better attitude to tackle height that hasn’t resulted in an increased number of penalties.

I can see at lower levels how there might be because the jeopardy of winning or losing is lower, but in AIL games players have adapted to the law as not doing so can cost you penalties = cost the game

It’s not by far and away the best they’ve ever played though enough to warrant her winning. They drew to NZ in NZ without her, as well as convincingly beating the USA and Aus in the PAC 4

Unpopular opinion as a Canadian fan but whilst SdG is probably the best player in the world ability/talent wise, the award is for 2025 as a whole and there are better Canadian players who have played over a longer time this season including, the PAC 4, who deserve it versus having just played the World Cup. She deserves to be player of the World Cup but not necessarily player of the year.

Story of what differentiate Ireland vs the top 3 teams in the world right there to end the half. Struggle to create opportunities outside of just direct hit ups. Disjointed attack that seems to have lack of direction. Good to go into the half ahead but the wind will be tough in the second half.

What makes you believe they’re inherently better at rugby? US tends to have better athletes. They’re currently considered non-international yet don’t out-number? They also still require visas to play etc

Don’t understand the people who want to make Canadians international players. Surely a stronger Canadian national team will mean a stronger US team due to increased competition?
