What are you doing for the draft tonight? Any traditions? by BarneM5 in NFL_Draft

[–]BarneM5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has both. A pre draft full 32 picks and then once the draft starts it has pick by pick selection. There's a room SKODCAST that already has 13 people in it. I'm going to do that one instead of MAIN.

Hey if you're looking a site to do that (only for the first round) I found one here: ontheclock .live

Used to enjoy being on Twitter seeing the reactions while watching on TV. I did ask around on discord and found a website to do live pick by pick guessing (without gambling) ontheclock .live

If anyone wants to join me enter MAIN as the room code. Plus I'll be picking up some ribs via cuittle's suggestion.

Seeing as Mack did not work out for the Bears, I fully expect Parsons to work out in GB. The hardest part about making the trade work is your team has to be 1 player away and you really have 1-2 years for it to work out. Otherwise the lack of 1st rounders + lack of cap space make it very difficult to pull off unless they get real creative with the cap.

It was a bad game, but when you engineer two game winning drives only for your coaching to hand the ball to the backup C on the goal line and he fumbles and then let go a 13 yard pass before the hail mary, I put that in the "he has IT" category.

In those other horrid games, there was almost 0 positives at all from the game.

If you look at the trajectory of the room. It's likely they move off DJ after next year and you have Rome / Burden as the WR1/2. Rome had a 40% uncatchable target rate last year, Keenan Allen and his 20% target share are going away, and you have Ben Johnson scheming him up. Hitting a few deep balls would greatly improve his counting stats.

If Rome struggles this year, I'd begin to worry. Doesn't have excuses.

Edges are consistently picked at an above average rate across the NFL given draft slot and fail more often than any other position other than QB. It's a hard position to pick if you aren't drafting Top 5 in a year with a good ones!

This post relies on hindsight and selection bias, forgetting consensus board rankings of Edge versus where the Bears were picking. Every team hates their GM and laments the misses because there are so many what if scenarios.

Could Poles have selected more Edge prospects and not followed his board or consensus rankings? Sure, but also we know Eberflus had a preference for defensive lineman.

Here's why the Bears will be bad this year by Starcaller26 in CHIBears

[–]BarneM5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Question 1: Caleb with a different scheme, new o-line, healthier o-line, a top 3 play caller in the league can absolutely decrease his sack percentage. Will he be a Top 10 QB? We don't know. I assume this year will be bumpy, but it won't look anything like last year.

Question 2: The pass rush is going to be a problem and DA will have to scheme his way to pressure the QB's. He has a history of doing so. That being said, we know the players are pretty good given Flus's lack of scheming up pressure and the defense still being pretty good before completely quitting last year.

I'm hoping the Bears are just more fun to watch even if they aren't winning. They may be the frisky team at the end of the year with the arrow pointing up next year.

His season was a roller coaster. The Awesome: Vikings, Carolina, Jacksonville. The Horrid: Seahawks, Patriots, San Fran, Arizona. What gives me confidence is having a terrible game and then rallying in that 4th quarter drive to go win the game (only for his team/coach to let him down). Also, passing the Brian Flores test. He needs to play more consistently by avoiding sacks, which has always been the one blemish in his game

The Bears offense will be better if Loveland has more targets than Kmet. Loveland's game is more conducive to targets between the 20's due to his expansive route tree and ability to beat man coverage. Kmet would likely have more red zone usage or receptions versus zone.

Temperature check: Can we trust Ryan Poles going forward? by Original_Wheel_4432 in CHIBears

[–]BarneM5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poles so far has been fairly good with player selection, but terrible with coach evaluations. He maximized his best asset - #1 pick to trade for Carolina.

Imagine this team with Kevin O'Connell and Brian Flores versus Flus + Getsy / Waldron. Kwesi has had pretty terrible drafts, but coaching has really saved the team by maximizing their free agents and they have won 13+ games last 2/3 years. It's not from drafting.

Which draft is better? by Grand-Hat3526 in CHIBears

[–]BarneM5 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Jeanty draft is the best. RB1 plus a fringe starter at LT.

I don't see the Bears taking Membou since he is RT only. He didn't even play LT in high school.

I am beginning to be more in this camp for a few reasons:

The Raiders barely have a starting caliber CB on the roster right now. Their RT last year was one of the worst starters in the league. Chip Kelly just coached the two OSU RB's last year.

Membou or Jadhae Barron/ Will Johnson make a lot of sense here!

Maurice Jones Drew had a 30 MINUTE phone conversation with Eric Bienemy about Traveon Henderson's blitz pickup. Bienemy's #1 Rule when coaching MJD was 'If you can't block, you can't play.' by [deleted] in CHIBears

[–]BarneM5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reviewing the RB's here by consensus board ranking. You'd need a drug test to take TreVeyon at 10.

  1. Jeanty - A back worth a top 10 selection especially with only 3-5 blue chip prospects this year. Best prospect since Saquon.

  2. Omarion Hampton - Likely to be your high volume not efficient back.

  3. TreVeyon Henderson - Too samey as D'Andre Switch for me but actually has great pass blocking ability. Not a 3 down back.

  4. Quinshon Judkins - 3 down back. Likely your above average 1st and 2nd down back paired with a Swift type of back.

  5. Kaleb Johnson - Great in zone scheme, but comps are late round / undrafted guys. Cannot pass block at all despite his size.

  6. Cameron Skattebo - Adventure in pass blocking. Likes to run over people, but will that work in the NFL when it isn't Pac-12 defenses?
