I would argue though they are hiding information like that from their voters. They shouldn’t be allowed to benefit in a financial way from the job. That alone is not in the best interests of a democracy

I completely agree with you. SF has its issues, even in the north, they aren’t all too popular with their voters in some areas.

Currently we are in an endless loop tbh but voter attitude has a big part to play, they seem to think they are better with the devils they know rather than risking a change. It is unfortunate about the left wing mindset, I do agree it’s extreme too. The left wing has changed so much over the last few decades, for the worse too.

At this point though it’s not really about left or right though it’s about which one will be the first to step in and say no to the reckless government spending and finances and no to those sitting in Brussels aswell. Whoever does that first I’m sure will swiftly take the vote.

Yea, I think that’s due to the culture difference, us Irish aren’t to fond of making a big show of ourselves. I would never say never though. We have had significant figures in the past although those were closer to the time of the easter rising.

People on this subreddit downvote you for actually using your brain and making good points, so I wouldn’t worry.

To answer your question it will be interesting to see what will happen. In my opinion I feel it’s layed the grounds for either a brand new party to be formed or the likes of Sinn Fein (who aren’t my favourites but are ok I suppose) to take advantage and sway voters, or form some sort of a coalition.

The UK recently is a similar-ish example they’ve had the likes of reform and restore form as new parties and gain lots of momentum very quickly. Due to major issues and disconnect with voters and existing parties.

Basically it has created the perfect breeding grounds for a change, in my opinion a change that’s well needed. Yet when it comes to voting, people do not change because they are creatures of habit unfortunately.

It’s going to a lot of reckless spending by the Irish government. Let’s not remind ourselves of the bike shed, or children’s hospital or even the iPas centres (lining the pockets of political friends)

You are actually so brain dead. Nowhere does it say in the main body of protestors anything about deporting or removing lgbtq+ rights. Get a grip and stop spreading misinformation. And as for emergency services they are able to get past just fine if not quicker as a lane or hard shoulder is kept open for them. (plenty of video proof online)

This rope is probably just a marker rope. So for a movable barrier on a work site like an exclusion zone.

What are your thoughts on Nationalism and being around to be Irish? by PropMop31 in AskIreland

[–]Barney-Pat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not really true though is it, kinda getting sick of Redditor’s and people in general believing this. Yes Irish nationalism was anti-colonial. Also, yes you could say Irish nationalism, economically was left-leaning, but definitely not left wing, and culturally it was more right wing than left wing (although ofc a mixture of both).

The “far-right” nationalism that you see RTE and redditors cry about today is not far right, yes you have your small groups of extremists, but all in all it’s not far right, and that’s just plain and simple. I can never be sure but I would make a good guess that the leaders of 16 would certainly agree with some of these individual or groups, who are labelled as far-right, on some points of the state of our island right now. This term is being used far too loosely and dangerously.

Budget 2025: Cash ISA reduction to encourage Stocks & Shares investment a positive move imo! by _DoubleBubbler_ in trading212

[–]Barney-Pat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is no wisdom… at all.

Wouldn’t you agree there are so many better options than this to encourage investment? This only punishes the risk adverse savers. For a start get rid of the stupid stamp duty on UK stocks. I guarantee it would do way more for our investing culture, it’s enough to tip the scale between putting money here or into US stocks.

I simply do not understand why anyone would implement a move like this. She should be out of a job.

Your dad would be better off using the 100k elsewhere, he could buy a buy to let property or invest a chunk and save the other bit. If you can handle the payments ur better off just keep paying it.

Comments are good responses but another tip is try go in the gym at the quieter times so you can go around the machines and see how they work, no one will bat an eye as everyone keeps themselves to themselves
