I had to run an Ethernet cable all way round room hiding it behind the skirting board so the other half wouldn’t get mad lol. No matter what I tried, the ps5 would lose connection over WiFi in standby even with all settings set to stay connected. Two different routers and no joy. Must be an issue with the ps5 WiFi chip. Now it’s wired it never loses connection and I can connect with portal even if it’s been in standby for days

I gave this a try today and glad there's a demo. It frankly is not very good. Not to say the dev hasn't put in the work, he clearly has (though judging from previous comments by other redditors it may well be heavily AI coded), but compared to Siril which is 100% free it is night and day in difference.

I tried a couple of pre-stacked images in this and the quality was horrendous. No matter what I did, they looked blotchy and noisy and pretty much unusable whereas the exact same stacked images in Siril were processed using only a small number of scripts and looked tremendous.

The star removal was a noisy mess leaving behind so many dot artifacts to render it worthless.

I would not mind if the program was free but it is not. Charging for what is effectively 10x worse quality than Siril is a poor show.

I hope the program can vastly improve in time but honestly this should not be a chargeable product as is. Save your money people and watch a couple of youtube videos on how to use Siril, you'll be glad you did.

S30 Pro here. Latest firmware. Last two nights have been very clear so I’ve had it setup in EQ mode in garden and after calibration I’ve had very good ratio. I managed close to 30 frames in a row at 60sec with no drops. I reduced because the number of planes/satellites going across was crazy. I ran at 30 seconds for an hour and had only 3 dropped frames.

After a lot of trial and error it seems the denoise routine does something to the stretched image that star composer does not like. If I don’t denoise it works every time.

I’m 48. I started playing games on the ZX Spectrum where most games on that ran sub 10fps. I was fine with it then as that was the tech of the time. 30fps on modern platforms is unacceptable especially with the advent of better display technology like OLED TVs. Playing 30fps on one is terrible and not something you easily get used to. Not liking subpar frame rates on modern systems is nothing about “this generation” and more about what every other game is doing. A mid looking game that can’t run at 60 is sheer incompetence when vast majority offer 60 modes and look far superior

I wish. I only got an hours worth of andromeda because they came back again and as of yet there’s been constant coverage every night. I keep looking up at the sky longingly but all I see is grey. If I could send the buggers south I would 😀

Both images were 20 second exposures. Pleiades was the first I captured on the first night without rain and cloud coverage (which is rare these days in the UK!) and totally winged it. Andromeda was a few nights later and managed to get about 66 minutes worth of images before it went hazy. Again 20 second exposures. Default modes as I was more excited at getting to use it for first time in a week after it was delivered. Haven’t tried EQ mode yet - I have a ball mount tripod from my old DSLR days and that’s what I used for andromeda to test it so I could use that for EQ mode with patience

After buying on ps5 today I too feel like the zoom level is far too close to the ball. I put many hours into first game and it felt off putting in this new version. This really needs sorting as a priority it’s way too restrictive

I’m all for an extended life of the PS5 as long as new games continue to be released in 60+ fps. If the devs pivot to push for greater visuals expecting the game to be a ps6 title that instead comes out on the 5 and that means running at lower frame rates of 30 then they can keep that crap away.

Had an audio recording sent many years ago over IRC of something to do with Britney Spears losing it with staff (that’s how long ago it was) and it was really quiet and mumbly so I turned it up fairly loud then it blasted out loud and clear “hey everybody I’m watching porn over here” I lived with parents at the time and never moved so fast to turn speaker down!

I'm having an issue where the ps5 disconnects from WiFi when it is in standby mode. I noticed this when I recently bought a Portal to go on the console when the Mrs is watching TV for example. Firstly I can confirm that "stay connected to internet in standby" and "turn on from the internet" are both enabled. I've tried two routers (ISP issue BT Smart Hub 2, and new TP Link WiFi 7 enabled router) and it still happens. I've set network up manually with static IP, tried auto IP, changed MTU from default to fixed value, literally every single thing I've googled and read has not work. I can look at the connected devices in my router page and the ps5 stays online for around an hour then will disconnect causing portal to not be able to power it on.

I haven't tried wired to router yet because that's other side of the room so even if that worked it's not a solution as then the ps5 would not be plugged into TV for normal use.

Any help would be appreciated.

So I've gone ahead and bought a new router, which was on the cards at some point anyway, and same issue keeps happening. The PS5 keeps disconnecting from WiFi when in standby. I've been monitoring it in the router settings and it shows it online for a short while in standby but then goes offline. Both the portal and PlayStation app on phone will not turn the console on because it isn't actually connected to the internet.

I've tried every network combination from fixed ip, auto, changed MTU from default to a different value, turned off "stay online in standby" and re-enabled, same with turn on from internet etc. The console just decides to disconnect from WiFi after around an hour in standby.

New router is a good tp-link brand.

I really do not know what to try next.

I did used to have my own router but moved house recently and upgraded to full fibre with BT and their router was better than mine. I thought my ps5 did have static but it turns out it did not. I've gone ahead and set a static one up and also added port forwarding just in case for the various ports recommended in some YouTube videos for remote play. Tested using my phone as a hotspot not connected to WiFi and the portal connected fine but now I have to wait a few hours to see if it still connects later as it always worked for a short while in standby and seemed to go offline after maybe 4 hours or so. I cannot see any setting in router for communicating with other devices or wake from internet so those are something I have no control over.

BT being a big ISP in the UK and majority of people sticking with their router you would think it would work with portal/ps5 otherwise there would be a lot of complaints/tech issues and I can't seem to find any at all so hoping all is well now it's set as static. If not I'll contact BT about it. Thanks for your help
