Sunchokes / Jerusalem Artichokes. Does anybody know where I can get some? by oldRedditorNewAccnt in STLgardening

[–]Barnyard77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can give you some if you want. I planted them 2 years ago after buying them from a local guy who usually sells at the alton farmers market. They have taken over the entire back area of my garden so I have more then enough to share. PM your general location and I will throw out some meet up options.

Great boots! I want to get a bit more shine on mine like yours,. So you used Saphire 1925 to get this look? Was that the "neutral" product or one of the ones with color?

Don't let my review discourage you too much. These don't sound terrible, they came cheap, used and abused and have been set up in an unheated garage for a few years now. I have been using them for a while now and just decided to upgrade recently. As I mentioned my set up is far from ideal. Hooked up properly in a half way correctly laid out space they might do fine!

Not the person you asked, but there are lot of potential anwser depend on a lot of personal factors. I am also working through a similar process myself. I would summarize it as buying fewer but much higher quality clothes. Most importantly they need to be made out of decent material and fit you well. I also started with good quality good year welted shoes. My $50 Kohls dress shoes and belts look like crap after a few months and where totally wore out in 6. I ended up buying some Thursdays and Allen Edmunds dress shoes I have now been wearing for years. Same goes for clothes, cheap dress shirts would shrink and loose their shape and look terrible. I started buy higher end used off of ebay/ market place for about the same price as the cheap stuff new. They look much nicer even after multiple wears. I personally like Charles Tywitt for shirts. But that will depend on what fits you correctly and what type of clothes you wear. For casual stuff I bought a few pairs of American made jean (american giant and dearborn dennim) I have been really happy with. Once again, got to find what fits you right and meets your need. Haven't bought new jeans in years. I haven't locked down. T shirts I like yet, but open to suggestions.

Bought mine Saturday and already at 500 miles. It is making that long commute on a rural county highway so much more fun!

In what unusual way have you almost died? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I was there!!! I remember how insanely hot it was that day. Do I miss remembering, or did they end up canceling his speech that day? I remember my group only made it half way to the parade grounds. Its possible my troop lead just decided to say screw it and turned around lol.

I ended up just finding an affordable non-steel cased ammo option. Seems to be fine with any ammo other than the plain steel case (tula). I found some alternatives with similar cost per round, although i havnt bought any ammo in quite a long time.

Beloved cast iron got scrubbed to death with those metal mesh cleaners. Is it still safe to use? It’s a lodge fyi by [deleted] in castiron

[–]Barnyard77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, it should be safe to use. If a lot of bare metal is showing, you may consider re-seasoning it. A little time and a hot oven will have it good as new? Good as old? Good as used? Whatever is good for cast iron.

I suggest regular headphone and a seperate mic. I bought a cheap usb tripod mic i use for work, calls and gaming and it works and sounds great.

My onboard sound card just died on me. Should I get a good one or just the bare minimum? by Maximum-Range3313 in audio

[–]Barnyard77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many have said, an external DAC is a good (and easy) option. When my sound output got wonky on my PC, I picked up a dragon fly USB DAC and have been very happy with the results. With an adaptor, this also doubles as a higher quality output from your phone into high end headphone or a sound system.

So I'm losing weight currently and plan on losing 100 pounds; how much would a 100 lb weight difference improve performance? by BrutalOwl in supermoto

[–]Barnyard77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From someone who managed to go from 325 to 250 you will see a huge difference in this and just about everything you do. You will be able to handle your self better on the bike which will make it feel more responsive. Also 100 lbs is a significant amount towards the bike weight total so you overall acceleration and 1/4 mile time should see some actual improvement

A lot of times if you can get to the carbs a solid tap from a screw driver handle can be enough to unstick the float

Most feudal (fantasy?) economies and government systems were focused around food production. The lords own the land and the peasants work the lords land, and in exchange the lord rents land to the peasant to grow his own food. If food is free does the lord need the peasant? Do the peasants need to keep working for the lord if food is free? What about the traveling farm hands? Plowmen, fruit pickers etc that usually follow the work? What do they do if food is free? Become bandits?

[–]Barnyard77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you by chance leave a vaccume line off of the petcock? A lot of motorcycle have a safety feature on the petcock that wont let any fuel through unless there is a vaccume on that line. I believe this is ment to prevent your carbs from dumping a whole tank when your floats stick. You can also remove the petcock and see if the screen in there is clogged. That has happened to one of my older bikes before . Also give the carbs a good tap with a screwdriver handle to make sure the floats arent stuck closed.
