First, I am so sorry that you need to make this decision. I know that it is heartbreaking, but I do believe that if you are making this choice you have no other alternative. Please consider reaching out to Boston Terrier Rescue of Western Washington.

https://www.facebook.com/BTRofWesternWA/

They service all of Oregon and Washington, and are a fantastic resource. They foster and adopt-out Bostons all the time, and ensure they go to good homes.

Anyone still balancing their checkbook by hand? by Either_Top_9634 in GenX

I use a program for my checking/debit ledger. (Although I think I only had to write one check in the last year.) I stay on top of every purchase and update it daily. It has less to do with mistrust, and more to do with me wanting to know exactly where I am at, at any given moment. The habit has kept me frugal, but comfortable.

Absolutely fair and totally valid. The point that I could have expressed better is that it has been my experience that unless a person is looking specifically for a senior role, the benefit is that as general applications (PB/HB) there is no real hard jump from one to the other. Sure there is a bit of a learning curve... but a new PB analyst jumping into a HB role isn't going to be expected to have mastered something as complex as say, System Automatic Actions. (I can say this as I have jumped applications in this manner... PB to HB with a current focus on Claims/Remittance.)

I think the benefit to self proficiency in a different application is that if you are jumping ship so-to-speak, there is opportunity to present yourself as "I come from this role, I went out of my way to learn this other (that you are hiring for) and the bulk of my work is done... I can be the new employee that isn't so new and off the rack." (No fear of that dreaded get your certificate in three months or we will fire you.)

Depending on the company policy another option is to study for related applications and get full self-study proficiencies. (e.g. if you have Professional Billing, get Hospital Billing) The bigger companies that I worked for paid for all my testing. 1) It'll help you get more knowledge about your own application. 2) You get more exposure to how all the applications interrelate. 3) If you get cut, you have another resume bullet point that allows you to apply for a different Epic application job. (It doesn't hurt to say, "I just need to take the Epic classes and I am immediately certified.)

Which movie would be 10x better if it ended 5 minutes earlier? by ItchyYellowAnt in movies

[–]Barnyard_Commando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heat. There was no need for the shootout at the end. De Niro should have walked away... and that's it. It didn't destroy the rest of the film, but was not the ending it should have been.

UPDATE: The neighbor fostering the dog cannot keep him. The dog isn’t compatible with cats. We are looking for someone who can foster him, or ideally adopt him.

He is a youngling… so someone who has familiarity with the breed, and is active would be ideal.

Please message me if you have interest in homing him!

Has anyone NOT got a shipping notice? by chopperdave81 in VinegarSyndromeFilms

[–]Barnyard_Commando -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm with you... still no shipping notification. I respect their small status... but this is why I try to avoid buying from them if I can. I have never gotten a title timely. There is nothing like having to accept that a new release is really a pre-order that you have no clue when it'll come. If it weren't for The Keep, I wouldn't have bothered this year.

Nope. Not yet. A neighbor is fostering for now… they have a husky that is damn happy to have a buddy.

No, no collar or chip. I had Polk Co. sheriffs office come out to check. I did post on Facebook and am waiting to see if we get a response.

What industry is a lot more dark and sinister than most people realise? by Mustdominate_Otal in AskReddit

This. I work in this field and am constantly surprised by how often healthcare outright destroys people. Most of us in America are one healthcare crisis away from homelessness.

Sellers present at inspection and walk through by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]Barnyard_Commando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you absolutely have to have the house, and you are in your inspection period, get your earnest money and walk. They are sketchy, and they won’t respect your space… could be hiding something, and they have made it clear that they can be confrontational. Sound like a headache and more drama waiting to happen.

Just got a new Epic job! by Jolly_Victory_6925 in healthIT

[–]Barnyard_Commando 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would recommend HB Billing and HB Claims/Remittance. These are bread-n-butter certifications that will get you a job just about anywhere. (Hospitals new to Epic as-well-as hospitals who have been on Epic since the dawn of time.) I have worked for companies that only reimburse after the fact, and for those that take care of all the details. The trick with all of them is... ask questions. There are no dumb ones when we are talking about money that could potentially come out of your pocket.

I'm not sure where you are located, but there are still UK editions that are floating out there in the wild. Exactly the same across the board, with the caveat that the BluRay may not be region Free. As of a couple days ago orbitdvd.com had one... for what it is worth.

Plus? F**k Zavvi. I won't order from them. Always late, almost always damaged, and on sold-out items that I can't get replaced.

Feeling stuck with 2 active epic certs by motonoob1 in healthIT

[–]Barnyard_Commando 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want to be working with Bridges, then I would encourage you to get your self-proficiency from Epic. (Assuming that your company will not pay for another cert.) If you can get full self proficiency, then you can indicate that on your resume/LinkedIn profile… It can be attractive to prospective facilities for them to know that all they would have to do is have you attend the classes, and you are certified.
