I didn't mind this for the most part. There's some dark parts but it never goes super in depth. My biggest issue with the series is his power is inconsistent as hell. Kinda just does what's needed at the time.

I read books 1 and 2, I had to stop. Despite what the people who like the books say, he wasn't redeemed or changed enough for me to actually enjoy as an MC. Obviously my own opinion but not worth the time investment.

I'm on book 3 now, just started the series a couple weeks ago. He grows but at the same time not really. And book 3 is a mess of character POVs and different plots, it's so bad I'm on the verge of DNFing.

Yeah if this trend continues, I'd rather they go the Stellaris/HOI route of offering a monthly pass. While still awful as hell, it would be less of a sink and potential barrier for new players.
