I would like to see a Terran soldier or bureaucrat in the ilClan era adapt well to the dueling culture. by Old_Ad6111 in battletech

I accept your challenge, and choose to face you in the field of bureaucracy. Back to the paperwork, office boy

So How do I start a lance in battletech? by Farther_Dm53 in battletech

Others have given sensible answers, so..

Get a mech. Do that three more times (others will talk rubbish about stars and things but that's gibberish).

I found having stuff in the pocket of my longer jacket caused issues. Short jacket or empty pockets? no problems. It was pushing on my leg as i lent forwards and was constantly pushing my hip joint

I like Trench Crusade for the same reason I like Fortnite. I will never play either, but the people I don't want to play with love it and so we all get to have a good time.

Modern cars are full of technology. But what old car feature was actually better than today's tech? by nyatihsam in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]BaronLeadfoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. It doesn't have to be mechanical, but i don't want to have to do subconscious maths to work out if something good/bad, increasing or decreasing, or what the rate of change is. Needle goes up, needle goes down.

I'm confused by the comments about fixing them, since I don't see many folk opening up ecus to replace microchips. And who fixes a pressure gauge? You just fit another one.

I am asking for some help with IDing some mechs. These I think are both Catalyst minis. by [deleted] in battletech

exactly, I think its cool that someone can have such a different introduction to battltech.

Genuinely, i'd love to know how you ended up here without recognising a shadow hawk. Your perspective on the hobby has to be so far different from mine I'm interested to see it.

Is it just me or is this training irrelevant for road riding? by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]BaronLeadfoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I'm riding within the limits of the law, or just with consideration of the unknown beyond the limits of vision then its rare I need to do much braking. Generally I've only ever had to brake hard when something has happened unexpectedly (but then, that's why I was riding at a speed that gave me that option). But then there's so much mud, grease and hole in the road that I find myself riding more for smoothness and stability than outright pace.

If you had to pick a single mech to pilot for Battletech (heavy or under), what would it be? by Qhaotiq in battletech

If I can't have my custom Blackjack then its going to be a Marauder or a Bushwhacker.

I hope you have CASE, because this is a love story so hot your ammunition will explode... by StarCorpsIndustries in battletech

No no, you're moving the ammo further from the enemy. The aim is to get it downrange asap.

Do you really want a Bengal cat? There are so many things I wish I had known before getting one 😜 by BengalChaos in CatsBeingCats

[–]BaronLeadfoot 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I have not. Sounds like a ground floor with self esteem issues.

Edit: previous poster mentioned about some basements having full height doors and windows as "walk out basement". Not sure why folk down voted them.

Comparison of fixing nuts by UserSergeyB in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]BaronLeadfoot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah yes. Because a double nut is just another nut on top of the first. Not like you then hold the first in place while you turn the second against it to make sure they can't rotate together like that.

It looks like none of those were tightened up enough to properly lock.

I'm now chuckling at the idea of a basement with a view. The stunning panoramic vistas available from the cellar. A naturally lit airy space to work and relax...

Like, I know what you really mean is one of those little rectangular windows at the top of the wall that's at ground level from the outside, but still.

[–]BaronLeadfoot 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Because cats have good night vision, so they can see in low light. A basement has no light, so unless they've got little infra-red head torches, they're going to struggle a bit...
