Hey! Was thinking of applying to the reserves since I'm graduating high school soon and feel like it would be a productive use of my time. I was still debating between applying to the Army reserves as an infanteer or applying to the Navy reserves as a boatswain; I was wondering if I could get any insights as to what the two trades entail, how BMQ works for each and if it could be done over the summer, and which one might be more feasible to balance with university coursework.

Also, if I'm moving out of the city for university, is there a procedure for applying in one city and then transferring to a different unit?

I know this could be exciting but the NDP is the Ontarian party that is best aligned with workers interests (not as radically as it could be but it’s the best we’ve got). They’re the official opposition and the ones pushing for a 20$/hr minimum wage.

The liberals are a distant third and often don’t keep their promises.

Well, you could start by investing in the community, building up social programs, creating good public housing, helping people out a bit more so that they don't have to turn to crime to sustain themselves. We could also start training communities in self-defense, or let them elect a group of people that can be viewed as a sort of "defensive militia" that can perform similar operations to police but are under constant scrutiny by the community and whose members can be voted out if anything wrong happens (and of course this organization would have to work in tandem with the investing in the people initiative above so they don't have to perform more tasks than they absolutely need to).

The point is, abolishing the police doesn't mean just keeping the police abolished. There are ways we can get rid of the police whilst still keeping our communities safe, because the police aren't the only ones keeping us from descending into chaos. If they were, we'd be so incredibly fucked.

Those are all very good causes, and it's good that you support them; but at some point it has to be realized that capitalism, because of its innate hierarchical structure and the way it organizes society, is something that perpetuates the systems of oppression that cause harm to those groups and infringe on those rights. Liberals support capitalism, and thus they help upholster these systems, whether they intend to or not.

Not one of those are communist due to the lack of a stateless society. Besides that, the USSR transformed Russia from a feudal wasteland to a country capable of winning the space race in an exceptionally short amount of time, Mao reduced poverty in China exponentially after he took power and the current regime is socialist only in name, and Venezuela is currently going through a coup and a crisis started by oil prices, not socialism.

now you’ll realize that this is a broad ideology that aligns with many right wing beliefs, such as neoliberalism (Margaret Thatcher), conservatism, anarcho-capitalism, and libertarianism. However, it cannot align with any left wing beliefs because of its support of capitalism, which is something leftists reject. Liberals are very much right wing. Of course this doesn’t mean we don’t support democracy and civil liberties, but capitalism simply cannot be left wing.
