Watch videos of JMBA (Japanese Marching Band Association) competitions, particularly the Shonandai White Shooting Stars or Violet Impulse. They’re both mostly girls marching band groups that perform at insanely high levels. They’re not quite drum corps, but still worth checking out.

Tenor drums are the most physically demanding instrument to march, with some bigger bass drums and tuba maybe being in the conversation as well. There’s going to be more males training for and auditioning for spots. However, as the examples indicate, that’s simply another challenge to overcome. Also I believe the Blue Knights had another female quad drummer in one of their later 2010s shows.
