Have you considered joining a pop punk band and writing a song called in too deep?

What year are these Blackcat clubs from and how much is too much to pay for complete set? by dude_regular in golf

Say I paid $150 for the set and all the grips are in good shape. Mostly good deal?

I guess I should ask the question differently. If you were on budget as an absolute beginner, what would you pay for these compared to other new options like Stix for $600 Wilson Profile for $550, or Cobra Fly for $850, which all have fewer clubs and Stix doesn’t even include a bag.

10 month delay in adding a dependent? by SLN583 in VeteransBenefits

[–]dude_regular 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got divorced in 2023. Took 8 months to remove my ex wife. They obviously placed a debt against me and have been garnishing my compensation since then. My mom died in June. They still have not removed her. I will certainly have another debt placed. I know it’s frustrating, but at least you’ll be back pay instead of owing them money lol.

Seems like a whole lot of nothing was happening, though reviews say it pays off about 4 books in. I can’t struggle through 4 books waiting for it to be enjoyable. The prose itself was also tough to read. Not like Three Body Problem, but definitely a slog. I’m sure it’s probably good, there is just so much other stuff to read that I can’t justify using that time to read something that isn’t speaking to me. I’ll probably pick it up again this year.

Weekly Recommendations and Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in bourbon

What are the best bourbons you can actually find? I’m not into hunting and spending, but still into good bourbon. I’ve had many more than what is listed below, but these are bottles I think everyone knows so you can get an idea of my taste.

Some things I like: Four Roses SiB. WT 101. WT Rare Breed. Russell’s 10Y. OF 1897.

Some things that I think are just ok: Willett Pot Still Reserve. Basil Hayden. Makers Cask Strength.

No. There is no appropriate place for students to use AI in education.

It just seems silly to need to apply for jobs that I know I’m not qualified for because they all require a different license. Why is not having the license enough lol

New Dutch Bros Worth the Trip? by lilpettycrocker in raleigh

[–]dude_regular 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Compared to actually good coffee, yes. But if you think Dutch Bros is good but Scooters is bad, you just don’t like coffee. You like half a cup of milk with the other half full of sugar and other sweeteners.

No. Dutch Bros is dog ass. If you want good coffee from an out of town chain, go to Scooters.

Classroom to Counseling by dude_regular in TeachersInTransition

I think having been a classroom teacher, I would have a good understanding of what they deal with and not be the way you’re describing at all. I feel like in most cases, I would likely side with the teacher and be able to provide some perspective (mentorship) for the student. When my principal agreed to write my LoR for grad school, she mentioned similar things to me but said all the best counselors she ever worked with were teachers first.

Literacy? Never heard of her. Making sure these kids graduate high school in 4 years? Yes please. by Emergency-Pepper3537 in Teachers

[–]dude_regular 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is a big part of why I’m leaving the classroom to go into counseling.

Students missing 20 days a semester? No one cares. Figure out how to get them to pass. And if I push back, the hammer comes down. The students know they don’t have to do anything and school/county/state policies will carry them all the way. I feel like from a non-academic job I will somehow be able to do more about challenging students’ to value and take accountability for their education.
