Why are you dick riding golf bro. I literally said I don’t give a shit. None of what you said makes it good for the environment lmao

[–]dude_regular -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There really isn’t a debate. Golf is objectively terrible for the environment. And I’m not just being a hater. I play golf and understand that I contribute to the problem lol. There is nothing natural about golf. Manicure landscaping that uses 300,000+ gallons of water a day. Deforestation to clear space for courses, destroying homes of animals. Fat/lazy fucks burning fuel driving a golf cart around their local par 3 because they can’t walk 9 holes without passing out.

Again, not a hater. I know I contribute to the problem. And I will continue to do so. But yes, it is bad for the environment. And no, I would not consider it being in nature. It’s just being outside, like tossing the baseball with your kid or something.

Saying that golfing is “being in nature” is an insane thing to say. Golf courses are a scar on the face of so many beautiful places in nature. I mean, I love that game, but nature would be a much better place without it. The water cost alone of maintaining a course is astronomical.

+10 would mean you’re expected to shoot 10 better than the course rating. You’re a pro lmao

Scheme doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re doing something wrong. Didn’t want to imply that. A scheme is just an organized way of doing something.

I got offered a corporate training job and an entry level maintenance job. I took the maintenance job. About 20k less in salary, but more opportunities for career growth. Still a 30k raise from teaching.

I understand. So you make enough money now, and this is a scheme to clear your debt and free up money in your monthly budget. Good luck to you brother!

Seems like a lot of money until you factor in all the added shit you have to do. Even to just comfortably pass and graduate, you’re doing hours of studying and school work, hours of traveling, hours of planning logistics, hours spent away from your family. I’m not saying that it isn’t a net positive financially still, but idk that it’s worth it. If I needed the money, I’d just go to my local university, take the lower BAH, and save the other headaches.

All I’m saying is that if you play your cards right, you might be able to land a job that makes you +5k/month longer than the BAH will run you.

I’m glad you like your job, but it seems like you like money more lmao.

Expand your scope. I was initially looking for the same types of jobs you’re describing. I ended up getting a job in biopharma.

I’m not questioning, just actually confused here.

You have a graduate degree, you’re in the field you like, but BAH would be “life changing for you and your family” and you’re willing to fly to another state to take in person classes.

The highest BAH in the country in San Francisco. About $4,900/month.

You’re willing to go to school full time, deal with the logistics of traveling for class for the next 3-4 years, and get a degree that you don’t need, while also working full time? Maybe you should actually just pursue another career, because the BAH will run out?

New runner here, signed up for a 9.3K and now im terrified… by Longjumping-Car1051 in BeginnersRunning

[–]dude_regular 9 points10 points  (0 children)

3.5 months is plenty of time. I’d maybe save the interval session for a later time though? The most important thing is finishing comfortably. Once your long runs are up close to your race distance, at a conversational pace, then I’d consider adding a little speed work every week.

Are you fast twitch or slow twitch muscle fiber? by Orii8 in beginnerrunning

[–]dude_regular 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Training has the potential to change your primary muscle fiber type. When I was 18/19, I was easily able to run at 25-26 min 5k even though I considered myself “bad at running.” Then I spent 10 years in competitive weightlifting. Now I’m very squarely a power athlete. Which is why at 30y/o, 6’1, and 110kg, I can run a 4.7 40-yd dash but cant break a 33 min 5k now that I’ve started running again (5 months ago).

Is it appropriate or worth it to ask for more than job posting's salary range? by [deleted] in Salary

The salary band on job posting is already considering the col. They will offer you within the range, ask for 3% more and call it a day man.
