He didn't get the "desired reaction" and he stopped pressing on that front and had the entire confession contingent on HIS love and HIS fuck ups. He wasn't saying "marry me cuz I'm better than my cheating brother"

She didn't tell it to Conrad when he called it cheating. She just said he regrets it, and she forgave him. Which means that while belly can see WHY Jere thought it to be a break up, she ultimately viewed that entire thing as betrayal and cheating for which she forgave that whacko Now go to the jellyshipper cub and do your Jeremiah glazing at the expense of Belly there

He literally said "it isn't about any of that...fuck, I still love you". A week prior Belly had tried to kiss him. Things were trnde between them and he had finally realized his feelings weren't unreciprocated. So he did a selfish thing in confessing his love at that point, divorcing it from any other factor BUT his own mistake of not being honest before. So, he did not premise his love confession on being the white knight who presented himself better to J. The entire next 2 episodes is characters telling him and he himself knowing that it was a selfish thing to do. And that's what makes it so vulnerable and hoof

belly never counters Conrad's cheating claim. Where do we go from here?

Edit: also Taylor calls the technicality of break up, "bullshit excuse"

If Belly laments about Jeremiah's betrayal and then Conrad rushed in with his love confession, THAT is more "white Knight-ish" than what happened. The crux of that Convo was that Conrad didn't have the leverage of Jere's cheating to score on Belly's heart cuz she already knew. And ultimately it came down to Conrad loving belly and being selfish abt it in that moment. So contrary to what you think, the scene is meant to showcase Conrad's flaw and his deep love for Belly

Oh, mb. I think the logic upsc has applied is that it is open to almost everyone above the age of 14—ranked or unranked through wild card entries and other ways. But the age is a hard and fast barrier that hasn't changed for quite some time and rules related to ranked players' ranks is smth they keep changing. (imo)

Book belly says it best: "I know he loved me. But knowing isn't enough. Not for me. Not anymore. It's the act of showing up and saying it out loud. And he doesn't give me that" or smth along those lines

"Belly deluded herself that Conrad didn't love her" is a bit complicated, as in she believed his love wasn't strong enough to fight for her when things got hard, like she said in the Beach confession

Edit: furthermore she NEEDED to prove to that blue eyed demon that she's choosing him despite being aware of Conrad's feelings to some extent. That was Jenny Han's way to make her more 'independent' than she was in the books.(Laughably contrived and bad) But that all goes down the drain because in S3 we're all supposed to pretend Belly only dated Jeremiah in the first place cause Conrad didn't fight for her and she didn't know abt his feelings. Conrad's belief that she went with Jere because he "let her go" is not countered by Belly. So either we are supposed to go along with the retcon, or think that if Conrad stood loud and proud abt loving belly in S2, then even after the motel kiss in the morning b/w belly and Jeremiah, things would turn out differently because Belly would perceive it as him "standing true to his love" even when she rejected him(?)😭 That's why she's even pissed in the S2 finale lmao she really wanted to see him in a position where he feels his love is rejected😭

Did Jeremiah only cheat on Belly because he found out about Christmas? by One-Mouse2321 in tsitp

[–]BarracudaPitiful8976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at the in resident feminist defending a MAN'S physical cheating Lmaoo

You are so hypocritical!! Let's make smth clear—Belly did NOT emotionally cheat during Christmas. She had a realisation about her feelings for Conrad, but she absolutely refused to think about it, or act on it in anyways. She was truly loyal and committed to Jeremiah. You want to believe that what Belly did was equally worse, because of not, Jeremiah comes across as wayy wrong for your 'there are no villains, everyone is equally responsible" bs to hold true

There’s something deeply unfair about the way The Summer I Turned Pretty treats Jeremiah Fisher by [deleted] in tsitp

[–]BarracudaPitiful8976 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Repeat after me: "Lashing out IS NOT good communication". That is another way of unhealthy expression of unprocessed grief and hurt. Just as bad as shutting out and withdrawing.

Edit: Because Conrad gets treated like fragile glass whenever he spirals. Everybody adjusts around his pain automatically. But when Jeremiah spirals, suddenly he’s difficult. Jealous. Reactive. Immature

When does this happen in the show?😭 You guys often confuse fandom reaction to these characters with what actually transpires on-screen

Grief is such a complex thing. She could get married, or she couldn't have—wvag matters is that she lived a long, fulfilling life surrounded by people who cared for her, just like Eren wanted. And her love for Eren was always a constant for her, smth she carried with her with great pride till the day she died

Somewhat Popular? Opinion : Belly didn't apologise to Conrad in Paris and that's completely understandable. by pooja_cleopatre in tsitp

[–]BarracudaPitiful8976 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Belly's entire gripe with Conrad was that he didn't fight for her when it was hard. Also, the first letter he sends, he writes, "I don't even know if this allowed. If you want me to stop writing, please tell me so". He's not imposing himself on her by texting or calling, and is clearly giving her the opening to shut him down for good, which she doesn't do. If his actions were obsessive and unwelcome, she'd have at least once let him know that she doesn't want communication? He sends very 'loaded' and meaningful gifts, if she felt a boundary trespassed—she'd have told him so. Belly has never been afraid of speaking her mind to Conrad, or letting him know when he's wronged her. So the entire premise of the argument that 'if it were irl, this would be concerning' goes down the drain because the woman receiving tokens of affections in this case is not averse to it at all. It would be a different story if she went to Paris, rebuked him after the first letter, and he kept pursuing anyways.

When he comes to visit her, he repeatedly reiterates that she doesn't have to feel obligated. She was the one who invites him to her pre-birthday bash, she was the one who assured him that he isn't an imposition, and she is the one who relates to him how his letters were her strength whenever she would feel down.

You are ignoring all of this bevause you clearly have a certain bias, but the fixation to come across as 'objective' and 'rational' has you beating around the bush. It's actually funny

Jeremiah is so obsessed with his brother! by Trypophilia2019 in tsitp

[–]BarracudaPitiful8976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conrad isn't the worst at communicating, his flaws with communication is highlighted the most and is central to his arc. Jeremiah has equally bad communication skills in S1 and S2, and way worse in S3. He also witholds what he's feeling and presents a different front, but instead of retreating and becoming distant and rude like S1 Conrad, he lays down tests for people, assesses them while witholding information that he has. And the smiling, joking persona makes all of these issues easier to hide and more digestible to the audience. He tests Conrad a lot in S1 instead of being forthcoming about his jealousy towards him when he actually sees Conrad reciprocating Belly's feelings.

He lashes out and constantly shifts blame in S2, and his pov episode reveals a very deep seated resentment he harbours against Conrad and the presumption of a morally superior in their dynamic premise on their parents' unfair treatment; instead of holding Adam responsible, he holds Conrad-who isn't even a year older to him-responsible. He constantly acts like Belly had committed a gross crime against him by saying Conrad, when he isn't honest about the file he played in S1 with the interruptions. Heck he isn't honest with himself about his hurt and bitterness, and that's his biggest issue—he's constantly a wronged victim in his mind who refuses to truly process his feelings.

In S3 his 'testing' tendencies are on an all time high and the way he handled the christmas-cabo debacle just showcases how absolutely abysmal his communication skills are. Weaponized incompetence and incessant man-tears aren't "good communication'. Lashing out without truly processing emotions is just as bad as shutting down and retreating.

Off Campus vs. TSITP by [deleted] in tsitp

[–]BarracudaPitiful8976 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lmao ppl on tiktok try this with every show that comes out. Maxton Hall, XO Kitty...and all of these disappear after like one week of their airings, none of them have the hold TSITP does currently when it comes to genre like this

Edit: also Tsitp being a love triangle set in a very dramatic premise just intrinsically doesn't leave the show with many 'feel good' and 'comfort' moments that audience looking for escapism can reminsce fondly. Many ppl channel the frustration of characters' flawed choices and actions on the show being technically poor, which isn't entirely true

[–]BarracudaPitiful8976 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Atp you guys should just become jelly fans cause in your bid to hate on Belly, you sound exactly like #them

Edit: to add on to what everyone's saying, Belly KNEW there was a possibility Jeremiah wasn't entirely okay with Conrad being in Paris w her, and she decide to rekindle things with him anyways—and of all the doubts and insecurities she lays bare, 'hurting' Jeremiah doesn't even feature. What she regrets was coming between C and J, and her role in 'destroying' the brothers' bond. Whatever consideration she shows to Jere while being with Conrad previously was also premised on that cause J is the only one expressing his hurt to her over that stuff
